Florence “Flo” Ganchuk, 97, of Glassport died Tuesday August 20, 2024. She is the daughter of the late Joseph and Martha (Wisniewski) Jablonski and beloved wife of the late Steve Ganchuk. She is survived by her daughter, with whom she lived with, Kathy (Bob) Miskanin of Glassport; sons Steven (Judy) Ganchuk of Liberty Boro, and Tom (Debra Ann) Ganchuk of Austin, TX; grandchildren, Aaron, Bethany, Kristin, Steven, Michael, David, Jennifer, Luke, Perry and Jospeh; also many great grandchildren and great great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sister, Virginia Wiech. Flo was a cafeteria worker for South Allegheny Elementary School in Glassport and a member of St. Joachim and Anne Parish. We would like to thank Family Hospice for all the help they have given us but especially Chaplin Marlena, our nurse, Tracy and Tela, our aide. We would also like to thank Norma for everything she has done for us. Friends will be received at the Wojciechowski Funeral Home, Glassport on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8. A funeral mass will be held Friday 10:30am at Queen of the Rosary Church with Father Tom Burke. Interment following at Calvary Cemetery.

Ralph E. Schillaci, 76, of Elizabeth, died Aug. 18, 2024 at home surrounded by his dearest loved ones. He is the son of the late Ralph and Mary (Pensenstadler) Schillaci. He is survived by former wife Penny Schillaci; daughter Stacy (Mark Kelley) Schillaci; son Anthony Schillaci; his grandson, whom he adored more than anything, Kayden Kelley; sisters Judy (the late Ralph) Johnson and Josie (the late Frank) Soldate; his beloved dogs Keisel and Kali; Cousins Dan Schillaci; Don Schillaci; Joe Schillaci; & Lou Schillaci; as well as his numerous nieces and nephews . He was preceded in death by sisters Terry (Jim) Webber and Marilyn (Nick) Borrelli. Ralph was an avid golfer with a pure passion for the game. He was a member of the Sons of Italy and took great pride in his profession (& family) at Kaiser Permanente, his Italian heritage, his hometown of Glassport, and his amazing community of friends. Family was truly everything to Ralph and he always made sure his loved ones knew that.

Donald Trbojevic, 93, of Glassport PA, passed away peacefully on August 18th at Southwestern Veterans Center in Highland Park, PA. He is survived by his son Ted Trbojevic (Pam) of Glassport, daughters Vaune McGinn (the late Shawn) of Lincoln Borough and Kathy Trbojevic of Sewickley, PA. Stepchildren Andrew Grese of Pymatuning PA and Diane Carr (Ken) of Coulter. Grandchildren Mike Denne (Katie) of Loveland OH, Cailtin McGinn of Sutersvillle, Brett McGinn (Brittany) of Lincoln Borough, Cory Trbojevic (Sally) of Lawrenceville, Sara Trbojevic (CJ) of Lawrenceville, great grandchildren Olivia, Elise, Kenna and Addison. Step grandchildren Jon Ruzich, Jason Ruzich, Andy Grese, Darla Grese, the late Kelli Grese, nieces and nephews. And his favorite canine companion (his boy) Coco. Preceded in death by his wife Kathryn (Bowers) Trbojevic and son Johnny Trbojevic, mother Anna (Mihalko) Trbojevic and father Rade (Ted) Trbojevic, sister Doris Hanna and brother George Trbojevic. Donald “Pap” was a 1949 graduate of Glassport High School. He served as Sergeant in the US Marines during the Korean War where he received the Purple Heart. Pap was employed by the Copperweld in Glassport and later was a self-employed landscaper for many years. He enjoyed working, hunting, gardening, farming, his family, Coco, and his homestead. Pap will always be remembered for his unwavering sense of humor and his resilience. The family wants to extend their appreciation to the entire staff of the Southwestern VA for the wonderful care they provided to Pap during his stay.

Carol "Gram" Ann Basser (Orenyak), 85, passed peacefully at home on August 6, 2024, after a two-year battle with Mesothelioma; surrounded by her family and close friends. Born August 13, 1938, in Glassport, PA, daughter of John Orenyak and Elizabeth [Lipchak]. Preceded in death by her parents; and ex-husband, Ernest Basser and daughter Mary Beth Basser. Survived by her sister; Diane Truitt (Orenyak); daughter, Christine Jacobs, and her husband, Christopher; grandchildren, Brandon Jacobs, and his wife, Ashley [Totino], and Jason Stevans; and great-grandson, Adler Jacobs; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Native of Glassport and graduate of Glassport High School, she enjoyed roller skating and bowling with friends. Later residing in Duquesne, she had an impact on the community. Serving as a crossing guard, volunteering as a Girls’ Scout brownie leader, and participating in numerous school events, she was beloved by children of Duquesne, often referred to as a “second mom” by many. Living in Liberty Borough, she was a part of the choir at St. Marks Catholic Church after retiring from her career at Hills / Ames. Anyone who knew Carol knew she was an animal lover and baseball fanatic, often referred to as the Pittsburgh Pirates' #1 fan. Friends will be received at the Wojciechowski Funeral Home, Glassport on Sunday, Aug. 18, 2024 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8. A funeral blessing will be held Monday, Aug. 19, 2024 at the funeral home at 10:00 am. Interment following at Belle Vernon Cemetery. Alice M. Szmyd, 93, of Glassport, died July 3, 2024. She is the daughter of the late Leo and Mary Cegelski and wife of the late Walter Szmyd. She is survived by her sons Dan (Debbie) Szmyd, and Richard (Jenifer) Szmyd; daughters Cheryl (James) Opfer and Bonnie (the late Frank) Wakefield; grandchildren Matt, Julie, James, Rachel ,Frank, Brandon and Jacob; great grandchildren Ruby, Henry, Alex, Hayley, Hunter, Hadlee and Huxley and her best friend Rita Cross. She was preceded in death by her grandson Vaughn; brothers Stan and Ray Cegelski; sisters Vera Bosetti, Sylvia Skibinski, Pearl Nagy, Regina Kubas and Dorothy Ploskina. Alice was a member of St. Joachim & Anne Parish, Christian Mothers and the Rosary Society. Alice enjoyed her afternoon card parties with her friends and looked forward to her Bingo days. It is with great sadness that the family of Irene Krivonak of Port Vue announces her passing on June 22, 2024 at the age of 97. She was the daughter of the late Stephen and Anna (Vargo) Krivonak. Irene is survived by her niece Audrey Catanzaro; nephews Dennis Krivonak and Michael Ksiazek, numerous other nieces and nephews, great niece and caregiver Sandra Catanzaro and great great nephew Shawn Catanzaro, with whom she had a special relationship and assisted with her care and many other great great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by siblings Kathryn Kovac, Ann Wasak, Stephen Krivonyak, Helen Ksiazek and Michael Krivonak. Irene was a retired executive secretary of Irvin Works and was a lifelong member of St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church. Friends will be received at the Wojciechowski Funeral Home, Glassport on Tues. From 2 to 4 and 6 to 8. A funeral liturgy will be held Wed. 10:30 at St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church. Anna "Tille" Turek, 95, of Glassport passed away peacefully at Grandview Estates in Elizabeth on Wednesday June 19, 2024. She was born September 27, 1928 in Lober, PA. to the late Michael and Mary Blaho. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, her husband John Turek and brothers John, Michael, and George Blaho.
Anna was a stay at home mom and a lifelong member of Queen of the Rosary Parish, the Rosary Society, and Christian Mothers. She had a passion for baking and managed the dessert table for the Queen of the Rosary's Lenten fish fries. Anna also enjoyed duck pin bowling in St. Cecilia's league at Glassport Lanes playing well into her 80’s, and continued league scorekeeping until she was 93. Anna could do anything she put her mind to. In her younger days she was the roving shortstop on a women’s WW II softball team and exhibited an artistic flair. She was a Cub scout den mother and also enjoyed gardening, canning, making crafts and especially baking cookies for the holidays to satisfy her sweet tooth. She would also make her famous “Martian” spice cake and apple sheet cake for special occasions, and provided the family with homemade Christmas ornaments every year. Anna’s Seasonal specialties were Lenten skillet-sized cottage cheese and green onion Perogies, and sauerkraut with wild mushrooms soup for Christmas Eve supper.

Agnes M. Econovich, 95, of Port Vue died May 28, 2024. She is the daughter of the late John and Susan (Marcinek) Mayher and beloved wife of the late Charles Econovich. She is survived by her sons Kenneth (Patty) Abels and Kevin (Nadine) Abels; grandchildren Kelly (Justin) Buterbaugh, Keith (Stacey) Abels and Ian Abels; great-grandchildren Graysen, Ashten, Rayveyn, Haylee, Braylynn, and Gage; and her dear neighbors Gene Makrancy, and Vicky Mihalek; also many nieces and nephews, including Beverly Mayher. Roger E. Silverman, 74, of McKeesport, passed away May 20, 2024 at Mercy Hospital, surrounded by family. He was born on February 12, 1950 and is the son of the late Edward and Eileen (Evans) Silverman and beloved husband of Cindy Bryce. He is survived by his children Roger Bryce, Stacey Bryce and Angela (Karissa Bryant) Bryce; grandchildren Kristofor "Boo-Boo", Belinda "Nana", Alyssa, Michael, Samantha, Roger, Joshua, Gage, Bethany, Kaine, and Kai’leigh; siblings Lucinda "Sissy" (Donald) Kovack, Debbie Sorg, Paulette Silverman, Carolyn Jean Silverman, Ralph Silverman, Kenneth Silverman, Patrick Silverman, Pamela Silverman and Robby Silverman; also many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Kristofor Bryce and brother Terry Silverman. Roger served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War where he received multiple medals and awards, most notably The Purple Heart and The Bronze Star Medal. Robert (Bob) Stecak, 79, formerly of Glassport, PA, went to be with the Lord on May 12, 2024. In Wilmington NC, with his daughters at his side, he passed peacefully. He was the faithful and loving husband of his "soul mate" Catherine DiLuca whom he served as her caregiver prior to her death in 2005. He was the son of the late Paul Stacek Dolores (Megahan) Stecak. He is survived by his daughters Nicole (Kevin) Carlson, and Robi (Corey) Quinlan of North Carolina. Grandchildren Seth and Cristian Carlson and Cathryn, Harper, Tate and Bowie Quinlan; siblings Paul Stecak (PA), Paula Knapp (NC), Paulette Gall (CA), stepmother Maureen Stacek, and close cousin Diana Carr (PA). Bob was a Navy Veteran, retired from Steelmet Inc, muscle car enthusiast, weightlifter, artist, self-taught mechanic and jack of all trades (aka MacGyver). He had many lifetime friends, loving neices nephews, inlaws and "buddies" from town. He made new buddies everywhere he went. Bob's signature "Stacy79" is imprinted on many a wall or unapproved item around the country and he lived up to his name in years. As a family member said upon hearing of his passing... "Stacy79 forever". Friends will be received at the Wojciechowski Funeral home on Thursday from 4-8. An additional visitation will be held in the funeral home Friday morning from 10-11am. Martha M. Yablonsky, 86, died Saturday May 11, 2024. She is the daughter of the late Frank and Margeret Vach. Ricardo “Ricky” A. Vazquez, Sr., 57, of Glassport died unexpectedly on Sunday May 5, 2024, two days before turning 30 for the 29th time. He is the son of Donna (Bortak) Miller and the late Richard Miller. He is survived by his beloved wife Nancy (Coll) Vazquez; children Christopher (Ashley) Poston, Nick (Kim) Webb, Desiree (Dane Williams) Vazquez, Brandi (Alexis Climes) Coll, Brittani Coll, Brandon Coll and Ricardo Vazquez Jr. ; grandchildren Jayleigh, Jayce, Jamison, Emma, Maddi, Evelyn, Jaxon, Bella and Rowan; sisters Janine Hampton, Jade Wardo and Amanda (Eric) Rausch; brother Rich (Kathy) Miller, Jr.; also many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by is brother Misael Vazquez with whom he loved dearly and missed everyday. Ricky was a dedicated man, known to never turn his back to hard work, he worked at U.S Steel for 19 years before his health led to him starting his own painting and handyman business. Ricky was a lifelong firefighter and dedicated his life to serving others and belonged to the former Glassport Reliance Hose Company #2, current Glassport Citizen Hose Company #1 and Port Vue Vigilant Hose #1 and took pride in his community. Recently, he was elevated to a Master Mason through the Omni Masonic Lodge #582 F&AM which was a source of happiness for him. Ricky had a larger than life presence and was rarely a stranger anywhere he went. Known for his amazing hugs, that would squeeze the breath out of you, and always being able to put a smile on anyone’s face. He was an avid Steelers fan and could be found many Sundays in his recliner yelling at the team as if he were on the sidelines coaching himself. He would rarely pass up an opportunity to spend time with family or friends or to indulge in a ice cold I.C Light. Though 57 years was not enough with him, everyone can agree that there would never have been a right time for him to leave. His family, while devastated, is taking time to reflect on the incredible memories they have made with him and encourage his friends and the community to do the same. Glassport will never again be the same without Ricky and we are forever grateful for his work within the community. Friends will be received at the Wojciechowski Funeral Home on Wednesday from 2 to 8 and a viewing will occur on Thursday from 9 to 10:30 at which time a funeral blessing will be held thereafter. Interment following at Calvary Cemetery, Port Vue. Following interment, there will be a celebration of life at Club #22 and all are welcome.

Cassandra R. Stefanakis, 80, of Glassport died Monday, April 14, 2024. She is the daughter of the late Charles and Rosalia Lukas and beloved wife of the late George Stefanakis. She is survived by her granddaughter Kayla (Josh) Krupp; grandchildren Amelia, Sophia, Joshua, Bella and Leia Kurpp; sister Maxine Lukas and nieces Jennifer Dolton and Renee Rader.
