Edward Michael Moonis, age 69, of White Oak, died Saturday, July 27, 2019.  He was born in McKeesport on December 6, 1949 and is the son of the late James Edward and Zona McCarthy Moonis. Edward served during the Vietnam Era in the Marines.  Until his retirement, he was a firefighter for the County of Allegheny which included working at Greater Pittsburgh Airport and Allegheny County Airport. His hobbies included turning some wrenches and making some sawdust.

Jackowski, age 80, of Port Vue, died Sunday July 28, 2019.  She was born August 16, 1938 in McKeesport and the daughter of the late Charles “APP” and Mercedes Dore James.  She was employed at the Palmer House as a cook for many years and then Dollar General in Port Vue as a cashier.  She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and cherished her precious moments with her great grandchildren who always made her smile and laugh.

Patricia Ann Grant, age 72 of McKeesport, died Thursday, July 25, 2019.  She was born in Richmond, Virginia on Aug. 13, 1946.  She is the daughter of the late David and Nellie Blackwell Milligan.  She enjoyed crocheting, sewing and venturing out weekly to flea markets and other excursions with her sons.  She loved spending time with her family.

She is survived by her sons, John D. Grant and Mark Grant both of McKeesport, Brian (Melissa) Grant of North Huntingdon, Luke Grant of California, Benjamin Grant of New York; daughter, Lisa (Tom) Woolcock of Maryland; grandchildren, Mathew and Michael; brother, David Milligan of Kittanning; sisters, Sandy Milligan of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Trudy and Judy Milligan both of Monroeville; also nieces and nephews.

Jean Greaves, age 89, of Point Pleasant Retirement Community, formerly of White Oak, died, Saturday, July 20, 2019. She is the daughter of the late Robert Ellsworth and Olive Sigler Shallenberger and was born in McKeesport, PA on Feb. 10, 1930. She is the wife of the late Robert E. “Bob” Greaves who died Jan. 13, 2013.

Jean was the secretary for the former Mayor of McKeesport, Jack Pribanic, and was also a legal secretary for various attorneys and judges in the Mon Valley. She was a former Deacon for Central Presbyterian Church, and a current member of Sampson’s Mills Presbyterian Church. She was formerly a member of the McKeesport Hospital Junior Women’s Committee and a former member of the Board of Directors of the McKeesport Hospital Foundation. She loved the holidays, playing bingo and cards, cruising, and having fun with family and friends.

Jean is survived by her daughters; Sandy (Dennis) Liberatore of Worcester, Mass, Debbie (Mark) Sherer of Penn Twp., Donna (Craig) Curran of Pittsford, NY and Bobbi (Tim) Dunn of White Oak, grandchildren; Dennis (Lynne) Liberatore, Melissa (Mike) Butler, Ryan (Rachel) Mitchell, Ashley (Ryan) Quinton, Natalie (Thomas Pohmer) Curran, Christopher Curran and Brandon Dunn, great grandchildren; Ethan and Ben Butler and Sarah and Danielle Liberatore, Abigail and Olivia Mitchell and Corbin Quinton.

Jean Louise Bonnet Causer, born September 22, 1955 in McKeesport, PA, died unexpectedly at home in Crownsville, Maryland on July 4, 2019. She was preceded in death by parents, Barbara and George Bonnet.  She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Jack “Kep” Causer; sisters, Ann (Tim) Ginnevan of N. Huntingdon, Carol (Jayme) Burgman of White Oak; brother-in-law, Bob (Diane) Causer of Frederick, Maryland; 2 nieces, 3 nephews and 5 great nieces and nephews.

After graduation from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania, Jean married her high school sweetheart. The couple moved to Maryland where Jean was a government contracts administrator and lovingly cared for many precious pets over the years.

She is survived by her son, Philip J. (Karen) Riley VI of Monroeville; daughters, Margaret A. (Scott) Gibson of N. Versailles, Mary L. (Michael) Hutchinson of Greensburg, Jean A. (James) Gallagher of Prospect; 7 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren; she is preceded in death by her brother, Leslie M. and his wife Gayle Reese.

Patricia Ann Harris, age 87, of McKeesport, died July 17, 2019.  She was born in McKeesport on October 17, 1931 and was the daughter of the late Ida Mondin Forsberg and her late husband, Elmer.  She is the wife of the late Jack H. Harris.  She was retired from Penn State University after 40 years of service, working in their Continuing Education Program.

When wintering in Florida with her daughter, she volunteered at South Florida Fair in West Palm Beach.  However, because of her love for the City of McKeesport, she was extremely active in various organizations.  She was the Volunteer Coordinator at McKeesport Heritage Center and Co-Chair of the Festival of Trees.  She organized the Penn State Retirees Luncheon Group and volunteered for many years for McKeesport International Village.

William Donald Link, age 75, of McKeesport, died Wednesday, July 3, 2019.  He was born in McKeesport on November 26, 1943 and is the son of the late Wilmer and Ruth Considine Link.  He was employed as a taxi driver in Denver, Colorado for many years eventually retiring back in McKeesport.  He enjoyed reading and trivia pursuit.  He was very knowledgeable and knew the lyrics to many songs. 

He is survived by children, Patrick Henry Link of Castle Rock, Colorado and Penny Leigh (Toby) Hoenshell of Parker, Colorado; grandchild Baleigh Kai Hoenshell; siblings, Richard John (Marlene) Link of California, Pennsylvania, Nancy Ruth Zmugg of Denver, Colorado, Thomas Martin (Nancy) Link of Mt. Lebanon, Mary Lou (Louis) Mazure of Fayetteville, Georgia, Kathryn Ann (Stephen) Petro of Kamiah, Idaho, Patricia Louise (Stephen) Foster of Baldwin;  many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, 1 great-great niece and 1 great-great nephew.

Adrienne Ann Kapisak of Greensburg, formerly of Port Vue and White Oak, died Sunday, June 30, 2019. She was born in McKeesport, PA on June 25, 1943 and is the daughter of the late John and Anna Pribish Kapisak.  She is survived by cousins and friends.

She graduated from McKeesport Hight School, Class of 1961, the Indiana University of PA with a BS in Ed., and received her M.Ed. from the University of Pittsburgh. Adrienne pursued further education during her teaching career though National Science Foundation grants at various schools throughout the United States.

Marjorie June Glancy Brannan, age 93, of N. Versailles, PA, died at home surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, June 29, 2019. She was the daughter of the late Raymond V. and Harriet Murphy Glancy and was born in Gallitzin, PA on July 6, 1925.

She was married for 53 years to the late Edward J. Brannan who died January 29, 2002. She is survived by her children, Kenneth (Rhonda) Brannan of Annapolis, MD; Robert (the late Sheree) Brannan of Pasadena, MD; Maureen (the late Andrew) Ryan of Wall, PA; Lorraine (Gene) Rizzo of N. Versailles; Bernadette (David) Galinskie of Shiremanstown, PA; Christine (Michael) Reed of Chapel Hill, NC; grandchildren, Andrea Murajda; Jonathan (Emily) Brannnan; Elaine (Dan) Fisher; Vincent Brannan; Ellen (Craig) Wilson; Emmalynn Galinskie; Lucas Reed; Elise Galinskie; Kaitlyn Reed. Also, great grandchild, Layla Wilson and step grandson, Jay (Aimee) Murphy; step great-grandchildren, Kate and Sarah Murphy and sisters; Dolores Sylvestor of Columbia, S. Carolina, Romaine (Joseph) Boley of Hollidaysburg, PA and many loving and caring nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters and brothers-in-law, Virginia and Walter Buck and Betty and Howard Anstead.

Marjorie graduated in 1943 as a Registered Nurse from Ohio Valley General Hospital and continued as an employee. While raising her children she was employed by McKeesport Hospital and the former Columbia Hospital located in Wilkinsburg. She was very active in volunteering for her children’s school and church, St. Robert Bellarmine. She was involved with the Girls Scouts of Western PA while serving as a leader for over 25 years and then serving on the Catholic Committee on Scouting for more than 40 years. Marjorie also volunteered for many years at St. Peter’s Child Development Center working with special needs children. She volunteered for the East Allegheny Meals-On-Wheels well into her nineties.

Elizabeth "Betty" Lindahl

Elizabeth "Betty" Lindahl, age 88 of Marion, Texas, formerly of White Oak, entered eternal life on Sunday, June 23, 2019.  She was born May 2, 1931 in Versailles Boro, the daughter of the late John and Bertha Nemeth Bunda and the wife of the late Robert Harold Lindahl.  She was a banquet hostess employed by the Palace Inn Restaurant for many years. Betty was also a graduate of McKeesport High School, Class of 1949.  Betty was always an active member of her church, McKeesport Presbyterian and Immanuel United Presbyterian. She was a loving animal advocate and rescue supporter who very much loved her dogs, Daisy and Pearlie. Betty loved to cross-stitch, cultivate flowers and work puzzles in her spare time. Those she leaves behind will most remember her for her love of God and family. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, neighbor, friend and wife and will be truly missed by all.  She is survived by daughters, Valerie L. (Larry C.) Moore of Marion, Texas and Michelle Lindahl of Orlando, Florida; granddaughter, Elizabeth Leslie Moore of Marion, Texas; nephews, Charles Beres of Pfafftown, North Carolina and Martin Beres of Ottawa, Canada. John E. Chlystek, age 90, of McKeesport, died Saturday, June 15, 2019. He was born June 1, 1929 in McKeesport, the son of the late Adam and Cecilia Weron Chlystek, and was the husband of the late Georgetta Craine Chlystek. John served in the United States Army during the Korean War and retired from McKeesport’s former Fort Pitt Steel Casting Company.

He is survived by his daughters; Patty Smith of Myrtle, SC, Cathy (Bob) McCort of Blairsville, and Tammy (Lou) Warman of McKeesport; 7 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
