Tracey D. Hobaugh, age 73, of Elizabeth Twp., passed away on Sunday, August 29, 2021 at home. She was a retired teacher for many school districts in the area. She was a member of Central Highlands Community United Methodist Church in Elizabeth Twp. where she served as a lay minister and enjoyed volunteering with the evangelism team and as a shepherd. A favorite Irish saying of hers was, "Death leaves a heartache no one can heal. Love leaves a memory no one can steal.” Born August 5, 1948 in Uniontown, she was a daughter of the late Joseph O. and Alverda J. (Brown) Thompson. She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Clarence G.  Hobaugh; sons, Benjamin J. Hobaugh of Monongahela and Jonathan C. and Trisha Hobaugh of Greensburg; granddaughters, Violet and Evelina Hobaugh; and brothers, Mark and Jeffrey Thompson, both of Uniontown. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brother, Timothy Thompson and her twin sister, Marilyn (who died at birth). Friends will be received in the Paul E. Bekavac Funeral Home, 221 North Second Avenue, Elizabeth on Thursday, September 2, 2021, from 2– 4 and 6-8 PM. A funeral service will take place on Friday, September 3, 2021, at 10 AM at Central Highlands Community United Methodist Church with the Rev. Stephen Morse officiating. John Rea Thompson

John Rea Thompson, age 89, of North Versailles, formerly of Elizabeth, passed away on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at Independence Court of Monroeville. He retired as the owner/operator of the Thompson Service Center in Elizabeth. An Army veteran serving during the Korean War, he was a member of Elizabeth United Methodist Church.

He was a member of Stephen Bayard Masonic Lodge 526 of Elizabeth and enjoyed being a clown with the Tall Cedars Masonic group. He enjoyed boating at Deep Creek Lake, golfing, and gardening.

An avid snowmobiler, he enjoyed snowmobile trips all over the United States including Yellowstone, the Upper Peninsula in Michigan and Deep Creek, as well as trips to Canada.

Born June 15, 1932 in Elizabeth, he was a son of the late John M. and Guellma (Jackson) Thompson. He is survived by his wife, Etta M. (Morrison) Thompson; sons, David Thompson of North, VA and Mark Thompson of Elizabeth; also, nieces and nephews.

Sidney John Cicchini

Sidney John Cicchini, age 84 of Rostraver Twp. and formerly of Clairton, peacefully passed away surrounded by his family on Friday, August 27, 2021 in McMurray Hills Manor.  Born June 22, 1937 in Clairton, he was a son of the late Joseph and Anna (Harchar) Cicchini.  A Veteran of the US Army, serving during the Vietnam War, Sid was a member of the Class of 1955 of Clairton High School and graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, earning a degree in economics, and also received a teaching degree from California University of Pennsylvania.  He began teaching mathematics at Thomas Jefferson High School and then spent 20 years at US Steel Clairton Works in various management positions, finishing in Labor Relations.  After early retirement, he began a career in real estate acquisition, development, and construction, specializing in single family homes and patio homes in Rostraver Twp. and nearby communities.  Sid was also a member of the Church of St. Anne, where he was a long time member of the Finance Committee, a Eucharistic Minister, Lector, and Adult Server.  In his spare time, he enjoyed quality time with all the neighbors on Jamie Drive and his many good friends from the Clairton High School class of 1955, who remained close to him for over 65 years.  Sid was also a dedicated fan of the Pitt Panthers and a season ticket holder of the Pittsburgh Steelers for many years and attended three Super Bowls.

Clement A. Cafasso, Jr., age 73 of Greenock, passed away at home on Thursday, August 26, 2021.  Born December 23, 1947 in Altoona, he was a son of the late Clement A. Cafasso, Sr. and Mary (LaMancusa) Cafasso.  Clement was a graduate of both Bishop Guilfoyle Catholic High School in Altoona and Penn State University.   A retired engineer for Westinghouse in Monroeville who also worked at Mt. Macrina Manor, Clement was a US Army Veteran of the Vietnam War, and a member of Sts. Joachim and Anne Parish - St. Michaels Church in Elizabeth Twp., the Knights of Columbus, and the National Association of Professional Engineers.  He is survived by his wife Celeste (Schreiner) Cafasso; his children Suzanne Cafasso of Greenock, Dominic (JoLayne) Cafasso of Oxford, NC, Corinne (Rob) Jukes of Center Twp., and Alexsis (Tony) Fairbanks of North Huntingdon; his grandchildren Joshua Claus and Brandon, Matthew, and Riley Jukes; his sister Louise Walter of Altoona; and also nieces and nephews.  Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Marcelle Burchner.

Logan "Logy" Ausburn, age 74, of Elizabeth, passed away on Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at home. He retired as a laborer for West Elizabeth Lumber Co. in Elizabeth. Born January 12, 1947 in West Elizabeth, he was a son of the late Finley and Della (Patterson) Ausburn. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Beverly A. (Monich) Ausburn; also, nieces and a nephew. John F. "Jack" Lazar, age 89, of Elizabeth Twp., formerly of Clairton, passed away on Monday, August 23, 2021 at Manorcare Health Services - Whitehall. He was a retired crane operator for U.S. Steel Irvin Works in West Mifflin. An Army veteran serving during the Korean War, he was a member of Ascension of Our Lord Byzantine Catholic Church in Clairton. Born October 7, 1931 in New Kensington, he was a son of the late John P. and Frances (Konieczny) Lazar. He is survived by his wife, Sharlene (Moxin) Lazar, whom he married June 11, 1953; daughter, Kathleen Sorton of Elizabeth Twp.; son, Daniel Lazar of Elizabeth; grandchildren, Larry Sorton of Scott Twp., Sarah (William) Smith of Elizabeth Twp. and Emily Sorton of Elizabeth Twp.; three great-grandchildren; brothers, Doug Lazar, Francie Lazar, Art Lazar; also, nieces and nephews. Donald W. Molinaro, age 93 of Glassport and formerly of Clairton, passed away on Monday, August 23, 2021 in his home peacefully and surrounded by his family.  Born October 15, 1927 in Glassport, he was a son of the late Dominic and Edna (Cothery) Molinaro.  A former steelworker at Copperweld in Glassport, Don was a Veteran of the US Navy, serving during both World War II and the Korean War.  He was a member of both Triumph of the Holy Cross Parish - St. Clare of Assisi Church, Clarton, and the American Legion Daniel Keffer Post #75, Clairton.  In his spare time, he was an avid runner, participating in many Pittsburgh Great Races over the years.  Besides his parents, Don was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years Rica (Campolongo) Molinaro, who passed away November 6, 2005; his grandson Kirk Sprouse, who passed away August 14, 1992; and his brothers George and Duane Molinaro.  He is survived by his daughters Edna Jean (Steve) Fleishaker of Myrtle Beach, SC, Danette (Ray) Sprouse of Glassport, Helen Marie (Chuck) Kennedy of Lansdale, and Mary Kay (Richard) Rafferty; his five grandchildren Chas (Rachel) Sprouse, Steve (Tiffany) Fleishaker, Kelly (Sam) Schulte, Caitlin (Jeff) Nichols, and Brianna Kennedy; his five great-grandchildren; and also nieces and nephews.

Aldia Pavlik

Aldia (Desrosier) Pavlik of Clairton passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 22, 2021 at home at the age of 98.

Aldia was born in Crookston, MN on February 19, 1923 to Joseph David and Mary Ann (Delorme) Desrosier.  She met her husband William G. at a nightclub in Saginaw, MI. while he was on leave in Bay City, MI., from the U.S. Coast Guard during WWII.  They were married on September 15, 1945 and celebrated 59 years together before his passing on January 3, 2005.  Aldia was a member of Triumph of the Holy Cross Parish – St. Clare of Assisi Church in Clairton and was a faithful watcher of the Catholic Mass on television when she was no longer able to physically attend Mass.  Her hobbies through the years included knitting, sewing, tailoring, making doll houses, and upholstering.

Madelaine "Maisie" Carr, age 86 of Coulter, passed away at home on Friday, August 20, 2021.  Born February 2, 1935 in McKeesport, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Leona (McNellis) Coulter.  A former home healthcare companion and assistant at the Barber Dental Association in McKeesport, Maisie was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.  She was also a volunteer for both Meals on Wheels and Kane Hospital, a former president and township commissioner for South Versailles Twp., a former Coulter School Board member, and a member of the Coulter VFD Auxiliary, the McKeesport Lions Club, and the McKeesport Garden Club.  Maisie is survived by her husband of 67 years Patrick J. Carr; her children P. Kenneth (Diane) Carr of Coulter, Carlene (Rick) Mears of Fairfield, CA, and Daniel K. (Kimberly) Carr of McKeesport; her ten grandchildren, her twenty great-grandchildren; her sister Janice Stillwell, and her brother Michael Coulter.  Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Frances Muha.

Dayton, age 57 of Dravosburg and formerly of Brentwood and Clairton, passed away on Saturday, August 14, 2021 in his home.  Born July 29, 1964 in Pittsburgh, he was a son of the late James (Mary O’Leary) Dayton and Barbara Lyon.  He received a bachelor’s degree from California University of Pennsylvania and worked as a server at Pizza Hut in Brentwood.  David is survived by his companion of 30 years, Frances Logue of Clairton; his stepchildren Elizabeth (Cliff) Warner of Elizabeth Twp and Natalie Logue of Monongahela and their children Mia, Olivia, Dominic, Ava, Jake, Nathan, and Lily; his great-grandson Darius; his brother Stephen (Lori) Dayton of Baldwin; his sister Linda Dayton of Clairton; and nephew and niece Connor and Sarah.  In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his stepson Lester Logue.

Nickalena "Lena" "Nicky" Catalina, age 98 of Port Vue, passed away at home on Sunday, August 8, 2021.  Born April 25, 1923 in Scottdale, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Agnes Iannone.  A member of Sts. Joachim and Anne Parish - St. Eugene's Church in Liberty Borough, Nickalena worked for Norwood Catering on the Gateway Clipper Fleet.  She will be remembered for taking great pride in cooking and taking care of her house, her a great sense of humor, and loved all the Pittsburgh sports teams.  Besides her parents, Nickalena was preceded in death by her husband Joseph R. Catalina, who passed away January 12, 2008, and her brothers Anthony and Eugene Iannone.  She is survived by her children Marianne (Don Plagman) Catalina of McCandless Twp., Christine Catalina of North Versailles, LeeAnn (Tom Dworek) Catalina of Port Vue, Edward (Norma) Catalina of Greensburg, and Joseph (Marlene) Catalina of Mt. Vernon; her grandchildren Gabriel (Dukee) Catalina, Joseph (Paz) Catalina, Carrie (Tim) Scott, Mindy (Don) Geletko, Tim (Colleen) Hannan, and Ed (Renee) Catalina; her fourteen great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and also her beloved cat Abbey.

Born April 24, 1944 in McKeesport, he was a son of the late Charles W. and Eleanor (Anderson) Washburn. An accomplished jazz pianist, he shared a piano bench with Count Basie, Ahmad Jamal, Bo Diddley, and – most importantly – his grandchildren. He retired as the owner of Washburn Accounting and Tax Service in Elizabeth Twp. An avid jogger and member of many gyms over the years, Jon was known by his neighbors for carrying a bag on his runs to clean up trash along the road.
