Michael J. Cvejkus, 91, a lifelong resident of Duquesne was embraced by God in the early morning of April 24, 2017 after a brief illness.  He was born in Duquesne on February 25, 1926 to the late Michael and Helen (Koval) Cvejkus and was predeceased by his loving wife Bess (Pakan), beloved daughter Arlene Pastrick and two sisters, Mary Perun and Anna Mae Ondechek.  Michael was an English teacher in the Duquesne school system for 35 years, President of the Duquesne Teacher’s Association and a proud member of the PSEA & NEA.

He often had past students tell him how grateful they were for his tough teaching that benefited them in life.  He was an active member of the Jednota Branch 580, serving as President and most recently Vice-President.  He was a lifelong member of Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, West Mifflin.  Michael was happiest in his later years spending time with family and took pride in leading the family in prayer for all holidays.  We will remember him ending his Christmas prayer with Vesele’ Vianoce!  He leaves behind his son, Kenneth (Judy), son-in-law David Pastrick and his grandchildren Meghan (Joe), Melissa (Tom), Jeremy, Justin (Taylor), Samantha, Ryan, Evan and seven great-grandchildren. 
Family  and friends will be receive on Wednesday April 26 from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. in the William S. Skovranko Memorial Home Inc., Richford and Commonwealth Ave., Duquesne. A Blessing will be offered on Thursday at 9:30 A.M. in the memorial home followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10 A.M. in Holy Trinity Church with Rev. Thomas Lewandowski as celebrant. Burial will follow in Holy Trinity Cemetery, West Mifflin. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Mike’s memory to Holy Trinity Church, West Mifflin, PA
