Joyce M. King, age 80, of West Mifflin, was born September 30, 1943, in Pittsburgh, PA, to the late John and Marie Arnold. Joyce passed away on March 20, 2024, in Bridgeville, PA.

Joyce's journey through life was marked by a commitment to learning, service, and family. She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School and earned an Associate's Degree from CCAC before furthering her education at Waynesburg College. For 22 years, she dedicated her talents to Allegheny Ludlum before retiring in 1998. Even in retirement, Joyce continued to serve, taking on various secretarial roles for over 21 years, including positions at Holiday Inn and AAA.

Joyce cherished her family and found joy in celebrating their milestones, big and small. Her love for her children and grandchildren was evident in the way she supported and celebrated their many accomplishments. On any given day, you may find her in the aisles of Sam’s Club gathering ingredients for her delicious green beans, collard greens, fried chicken, and pretzel salad. She also had a fondness for shopping, Hershey’s chocolate with almonds, an ice cold Pepsi, cheering on her Steelers, and sending a long and loving text message.

A devout Christian, Joyce's unwavering faith was the cornerstone of her life. She found joy and purpose as a loyal member of Morning Star Baptist Church where she was baptized on June 28, 1982. Throughout her years of service, she actively participated in various ministries, holding key roles such as Treasurer of the Pastor’s Aide and secretary of the Jerome Stevenson Bible School. She proudly graduated as a member of the inaugural class from the Jerome Stevenson Bible School on May 25, 2013, after four years of diligent study and service. Recognized as a respected leader within her church community, Joyce also initiated a computer literacy program, teaching and empowering dozens during weekly classes, and also generously shared her skills with the AV Team.

She was preceded in death by her father, John Arnold, mother, Marie Rainey Arnold, brothers, John Arnold Jr. & William Arnold, and her newborn twins.

Joyce is survived by her beloved children: sons, Raymond Cherry, Tremel Cherry, daughter, Melissa Foy; 11 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren; sisters, Gwendolyn Clarke, and Rose Bowman; brother, Frederick Arnold; nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Joyce's compassionate spirit and generous heart left an indelible mark on all who knew her. She lived a life devoted to service, always ready to lend a helping hand and share her infectious smile. Her legacy of love and kindness will continue to inspire those whose lives she touched. In her final days, when asked “how are you,”' she declared "can't complain."

Unwavering in faith, loving of family, and grateful for life, this is how she will be remembered—a beacon of positivity and resilience with a sprinkle of sass to all who had the privilege of knowing her.
