Cynthia Annette Moore, 61, of White Oak died May 15, 2023. Daughter of the late John Willie and Laverne Smith Moore, Jr., she began her earthly journey on April 21, 1962.

Cindy accepted Christ as her personal Savior in her youth.  She was a member of the Gethsemane Church of God In Christ and was known for her hospitality and willingness to help where needed.

Cindy was a 2006 graduate of California University's MSW program and was a practicing social worker all her life!  She was employed at the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank for twenty years and worked tirelessly to support the efforts of the organization to alleviate the impact of hunger throughout Southwestern PA in her role there as Chief Outreach Officer.

During her tenure at the Food Bank, she worked throughout the 11-county service area served by the agency and worked extensively to develop community engagement strategies to connect their participants with needed services.

She volunteered her time in the Clairton community as a youth mentor for Sisters Place and as a volunteer chaperone for Exceptional Adventures, an organization that provides social and travel opportunities for adults with mental delays.  She continued to pursue educational and professional opportunities upon graduation from California University by graduating in Leadership Pittsburgh's class XXII, presented at several local and national conferences including the PA-NASW, and served on Feeding America's national think tank on "Agency Capacity Building".

Additionally, Cynthia was a collaborator on several published research projects. Among them was: “As You Look into the Eyes of the People” and Reducing the Effects of Parental Substance Abuse on Children: A Spiritual Recommendation which germinated from a class project that Cynthia completed while pursuing her master’s degree at California University.

Her service-oriented social work carried on briefly as Director of Community Engagement of Clairton Cares/Morningstar Community Services when she oversaw the development and implementation of community-based health and human services for the residents of Clairton and for the past six years through her work as a supervisor and service coordinator at Pennsylvania Health & Wellness/Centene Co. While there, she supervised the day-to-day activities of a team of service coordinators, who support the needs of the aging population and individuals with disabilities, with long term services and supports.
