John (Butch) Coyne, 73, of Hazelwood, passed peacefully at his home on Tuesday, August 2, 2022 . Born December 23, 1948, in Hazelwood,  to Rose (Provident) and Edward T. Coyne, Sr. He was a graduate of Bishop Boyle High School. He married Karen (Poniatowski) October 21, 1978. Together they shared four children; Sara (Ed) Foster, Jon (Kristin), Liam (Amy) Coyne, and Devin (Tom) Madden. He also had nine loving grandchildren; Brianna, Leanna, Angela, Carmella, Olivia, Gianna, Eddie, Abigail, and Leland. . Brother of the late Edward T. Coyne Jr. survived by his wife, Mary Rita and their children Regina (Nate), Eddie (Brooke), and Kathleen (Matt), along with his great nieces and nephews.

He worked at Calig Steel Drum Company until their closure and later as a security guard for Pittsburgh Public Schools. John lived his life to the fullest through the simple things; chatting with friends and family, telling stories, and spending time with his grandchildren. Butch was a well respected man by everyone he came in contact with including the many students he mentored as his time as a security officer at Langley and Brashear High School. 

Family and friends will be received from 2-8 P.M. on Thursday, August 4, 2022, in the William S. Skovranko Memorial Home, Inc., 828 Richford Street, Duquesne. Parting prayers will be praye at 10:15 A.M. on Friday, August 5, in the Memorial Home, followed by Funeral Services at 11 A.M. in the Hazelwood Christian Church, 118 Glen Caladh Street, Hazelwood.
