Jonathan R. “Hüs” Salhus Sr., 60 of Glassport, formerly of Edina, passed away on Tuesday, May 24, 2022, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born in Edina, Minnesota on October 4, 1961, to the late Jon J. and Mary Ann Rogne Salhus. Jon was the loving husband of 26 years to Kristen Majzer Salhus. He is survived by his wife Kristen as well as their daughter Ashley (Jon) Bouchard of Elizabeth Township and son Jonathan (Mariah Flores) Salhus Jr. of Glassport. Further survivors include sisters Kari Overby of Westfield, WI, Kirsten (Kevin) McKeever of Lakeville, MN, brother Nathan (Carrie) Salhus of Rosemount, MN, and sister Stefani (Allan) Breidenbach of Waunakee, WI. Additional survivors include his grandchildren Triston, Arionna, Jonathan, and Averie, as well as his aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, dog Bailey, and cat Skye.

He was a proud 22-year member of the United States Marine Corps who served in Operation Desert Storm in Kuwait and Operation Desert Shield in Iraq. Jonathan earned the rank of Staff Sergeant throughout his career in the service, as well as several commendations and medals. During his time in the military, Jonathan became a master metalsmith, working on projects ranging from automobiles to helicopters. He was also a member of the American Legion in Glassport. He had a passion for history, was known as a master of the grill, and recently cultivated an interest in spacecrafts.

Arrangements entrusted to E.C. FINNEY FUNERAL HOME, 235 Monongahela Ave, Glassport, PA 15045. A private wake will be announced later by the family. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the funeral home to defray costs.
