James W. Shirley Funeral Home

Obituaries | The Tube City Almanac | November 04, 2021

Christina “Chrissy” Bocan, May 15, 1974-November 1, 2021. Chrissy Bocan was a powerful free spirit that valued her loved ones above all else. She was passionate about doing the right thing, helping those in need, and embracing life fully. Chrissy is survived by her mother, Anita Bocan, of North Huntingdon, PA, her brother Mike Bocan of Mt. Pleasant, PA, her son Hudson Fairclough-Stewart, of Concord, NH, her boyfriend David Fresch of North Huntingdon, PA, and countless loving friends, as well as her cousins, uncles, and aunts. She was preceded in death by her father George Bocan.

Chrissy’s appetite for adventure took her all over the country. She lived in New Orleans and Portland, OR, then moved back to Irwin, Pennsylvania, where she most recently resided. While she relished her time on the open road as a traveler and later a long-haul semi-truck driver, she settled for many years in her adopted hometown of Madison, WI.
In Madison, she was well known for her involvement in the local music scene as a fan, High Noon bartender, radio personality, and performing flautist for the Irish band The Pints. She was a founding member and captain of the Mad Rollin’ Dolls and was known through the skating world as Predator.
Everywhere Chrissy wandered, she forged deep friendships and strong ties with the community. Even though her number of friends was incredibly large, her friendships were as meaningful as they were numerous. She will be forever remembered for her fierce love, wit, strength, and many passions. In her final moments, she donated vital organs to save the lives of multiple people.
Chrissy’s family and friends are deeply devastated by this sudden loss.
Local Memorial service details will be announced. A tribute concert will be held in Madison, WI, at High Noon at 3pm Sunday December 5. In lieu of flowers, a donation is asked to be made to Madison Cat Project, www.madisoncatproject.org , an organization she deeply cared for.
