He received his degree in Mechanical Engineering from Point Park University and was employed as a mechanical engineer by PPG Industries from 1959 to 1984. After retiring, Mike enjoyed time with family, travelling, and his favorite hobbies: gardening, bowling, and volunteering in the community.

A life member of the Disabled American Veterans, Mike was a passionate advocate for veteran’s benefits. During his fifty years of dedication to the DAV, he was an active member of McKeesport Chapter 52, and held various offices over the years. He served as DAV State (PA) Commander, 1966-67. One of his most cherished honors was receiving the Legion of Honor Award, Chapel of the Four Chaplains.

Mike was proud to be an American Red Cross volunteer, most recently at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, and previously at Tripler Army Medical Center, Honolulu, where he was recognized as ARC Volunteer of the Year 2008.  He was also active in the church community as an instructor for the RCIA program

Mike is survived by his wife of 24 years, Joan (Kaminsky) Godich; his daughters, Anna May (John) Emanuel of Murrysville, Margaret “Peggy” Snee of White Oak, Michelle “Mickey” Godich of Monroeville, and Nicole (Mark) Thompson of Haymarket,  VA; and brother, Marko Godich of  Dravosburg. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Katherine, sisters, Mildred “Millie” Grasak and Mary Totin, and son-in-law, Rick Snee.  Mike will be remembered lovingly by his seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and his many nieces and nephews.
