William D. Harr Jr., 82 of Greensburg, died Friday May 20, 2016. He was born August 16, 1933 in Homestead, a son of the late William D. Sr. and Anna Mary (Higham) Harr and was also preceded in death by his first wife Wilda R. (Walker) Harr and a sister Virginia Louise Shephard. Bill retired after over forty years’ service from Bell Telephone Co. / Verizon as manager of network operations. He was a member of First United Methodist Church Irwin, Shidle Lodge, No. 601, Free and Accepted Masons, Irwin, where he served as worshipful master in 1984, the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Pittsburgh, and Syria Temple, Pittsburgh.

Bill enjoyed traveling and was a member of the Mon Valley and Shrine Antique Car Clubs. He was always the life of the party with his quick wit. Always optimistic and cheerful, he loved his family and will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife of over seventeen years, Janice M. (Kifer) Harr; children, Wendy J. (John) Lomicka of Churchill, Susan B. (Tom) Hull of Hagerstown, MD, Amy N. (Mark) Bozzone of Pittsburgh, Douglas (Sally) Lang of Jeannette, Denise (Dan) Evancho of Pittsburgh, and David (Alice) Lang of Jeannette; grandchildren, Christian (Chelsea) Lomicka, Ryan Lomicka, Garrett and Aaron Hull, Danielle, Jared, and Adam Bozzone, Emma (Jake) Leonard, Hannah and John Lang, and Ryan, Jake, and Gianna Evancho; sisters, Ann (David) Morgan of FL and Dorothy Jean (Bernard) Levine of CA; also many nieces and nephews including beloved niece Jeanne Shepherd. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the William Snyder Funeral Home Inc., 521 Main Street, Irwin, 724-863-1200, where a funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday with Rev. David S. Lake, officiating. Interment will follow in Union Cemetery. Shidle Lodge will hold masonic funeral services at 7:30 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers a contribution can be made to Shriner’s Hospital, 2900 Rocky Point Dr., Tampa, FL 33607 or First United Methodist Church, Oak and Third St., Irwin, PA 15642.
