Howard Benjamin Herchelroath formerly of North Huntingdon, Westmoreland County, PA and recently of Masonic Village, Elizabethtown, Lancaster County, PA went to join his Lord on March 13, 2018.  He was born July 22, 1925 in McKeesport, Allegheny County, PA to John T. and Harriet (Todd) Herchelroath.

He was a WWII Navy veteran, serving as a corpsman in the Pacific Theater.  Howard was retired from U.S. Steel.  He chose to share his beautiful tenor singing voice with churches all over PA for the Glory of God. Along with his wife he taught Sunday School, Junior Church and led senior citizens bus trips.  Howard was known as "The Pretzel Man," loved music, growing fabulous flowers, feeding the birds and baking the wonderful bread he shared with family and friends.  He will always be remembered for his love of being goofy and his wonderful sense of humor.

Howard was predeceased by his wife of 67 years, the love of his life, Betty J. (Gary).

He is survived by children Debra L. Helwig (Daniel), Enola, PA, Denise S. Chulak, Erie, PA and David G. Herchelroath (Lori), Elizabethtown, PA.  Four grandchildren, Belinda D. Milone, Vincent A. Milone Jr., Holly M (Herchelroath) Young and Bradley D. Herchelroath, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Howard left this message before he left on his on this new journey. He wanted everyone to know how much he loved Jesus and is happy to have gone home to Heaven.

A celebration of his life will be held on May 5, 2018 at 11 a.m. in the Shirley Family Banquet Hall, 231 Jennie Drive North Huntingdon, PA 15642, after which, he will be laid to rest with full military honors, along with his beloved wife at 2 p.m. in Richland Cemetery, Dravosburg, PA.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or to Masonic Village of Elizabethtown, PA in memory of Howard Benjamin Herchelroath.

We miss you Daddy, Granddaddy and Great Granddaddy.  We know you are happy in the arms of your God.
