Stanley T. Sczerba, age 96 of Elizabeth Twp., passed away at home on Friday, November 17, 2017.  Born January 6, 1921 in Hayes, he was a son of the late Teofil and Stella (Kol) Sczerba.  

A retired Licensed Mechanical Engineer with Koppers Corp. who also worked for US Steel, Stanley was a World War II Veteran of the US Navy, serving as a Motor Machinist Mate 3rd Class on the USS Tigrone.  He was present for V-J Day in Tokyo Bay on December 11, 1945: his date of discharge.  Stanley was preceded in death by his wife, the late Jean (Johnson) Sczerba and his son, the late Douglas Sczerba.  He is survived by his children Nancy (Rev. Jack) Hernstrom of Elizabeth Twp. and Bruce (Donna) Sczerba of Pittsburgh; his grandchildren Jason, Cameron, and Logan Sczerba and Schuyler and Benjamin Hernstrom; his great-grandchildren Holden, Mary, and Wyatt Sczerba; and his brother John Sczerba of Chambersburg.  Friends will be received in the Daniel F. Bekavac Funeral Home and Crematory, 4504 Walnut St., Versailles Borough, McKeesport, PA 15132 (412-678-3454) on Sunday, November 19, 2017 from 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 8 PM.  A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, November 20, 2017 at 10 AM in the funeral home with his son-in-law, Rev.
