George J. Adamson, 78, formerly of North Huntingdon, died Monday February 27, 2017 while visiting in Georgia. He was born December 24, 1938 in Jeannette, the son of the late George J. Sr. and Gladys Stitley Adamson and was also preceded in death by his wife of nearly fifty years Dolores A. “Dolly” (Welsh) Adamson on July 19, 2016. George graduated from the University of Pittsburgh and received his master’s degree from Edinboro University. He was a retired school teacher for the Norwin School District where he was yearbook advisor and an English teacher for over 30 years.

He was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Irwin, a member of the Train Collectors Association, the Westmoreland Atari Computer Organization, and enjoyed spending time his children and grandchildren. He missed his wife terribly and longed to be with her. He is survived by his children, Jim Adamson of Atlanta, GA, and Karen Mehs and her husband Joe of Erie; and his grandchildren Madeline and Alexander Mehs. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the William Snyder Funeral Home Inc., 521 Main Street, Irwin, 724-863-1200, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday with Dr. Clifton J.
