After completing his life of service to God, his family, community and country, Bill Adams, 92, a lifelong resident of Duquesne, PA passed from this life to everlasting life on Wednesday, December 14, 2016 surrounded by his family. Bill’s legacy as a servant of the Lord is far-reaching. At the early age of 19, he served his country in the Army earning five battle stars in the European Theatre during WWII. He began his community service as a police officer for the City of Duquesne. Following his retirement, he worked as a homicide detective for Allegheny County. Bill was later employed as a security guard of the Frick Art Museum in Pittsburgh.

His service and devotion to his family was apparent in his deep love for his parents, the late John C. and Anna C. (Jamnicky) Adams of Duquesne. Bill met the love of his life in Mary (Ragan) and they were married for 65 years. God blessed  them with four children who adore and love them deeply. Mary Ann (Tom) Gray of Bethel Park, Bill (Nancy) of Wadsworth, OH, Rev. John W., Parochial Vicar, at Sts. Peter and Paul Parish in Hamburg, NY, and Mark (Linda) of Louisville, OH admired and will miss their Dad. Bill’s life did not only revolve around his wife and children but also his beautiful 13 grandchildren – Tommy (Robyn), Tim (Nikki), Christina (Shawn), Billy (Stef), Ann Marie (Vince), Theresa, Michael (Sara), Matthew, Marc (Nicole), Maria , Shawn, Bryan, Tyler and 11 great grandchildren – Anthony, Alexis, James, Natalie, Ariaunna, Nicholas, Casey, Cecilia, Tommy, Anna, and Breandan.  Their “Paps” will always remain in their hearts forever. Bill is survived by his beloved sister, Donna Jean (late John) Sebbens of North Huntingdon and many nieces and nephews, and relatives.  
Bill was an avid sports fan rooting for his Steelers, Penguins, and Pirates, as well as cheering on his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren during their countless athletic events.
God was foremost in Bill’s life. He served as an usher, a member of the men’s club, and a member of the Saint Vincent de Paul Society including a time as its  President at Holy Name Church in Duquesne.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, December 19th at 11:00 am at Christ the Light of World Parish, Holy Name Church. Main celebrant will be his son, Rev. John William Adams. Prayers will precede Mass at the funeral home at 10:30 am. Friends and relatives may call from 2:00 pm – 7:00 pm on Sunday, December 18th,  with a Wake Prayer Service and Rosary to be held at 6:30 pm. at William S. Skovranko Memorial Home, 828 Richford Street, Duquesne, PA 15110. Interment will follow the Mass at Holy Name Cemetery.
The story of Bill’s life will live on forever in the hearts and souls of those lives he touched.
