Paul E. Merlin, 85, of Irwin, died Saturday June 17, 2023. He was born March 6, 1938 in McKeesport, a son of the late Ernest and Mildred (Montgomery) Merlin. Paul was co-owner of Blazer Diamond Products and Pitt Industrial Diamond Products, of North Huntingdon. He was a graduate of Penn State University, McKeesport Campus, and was a big Penn State fan belonging to the Nittany Lion Club and the Penn State Alumni Association. He attended Penn State football games for many years.

He was active with Ducks Unlimited and Pirates Charities and was past President of the West Hempfield Recreation Association. He is survived by his wife of 59 years Emma L. (Brady) Merlin; his children Christopher P. Merlin and his wife Jennifer of Murrysville and Leeann M. Steel and her husband William of Irwin; his brother Glenn R. Merlin and his wife Nancy of Greensburg brother in law Patrick J. Brady and his wife Claudia; seven nieces Lisa, Lori, Amy, Diane, Kim, Cassie, and Patricia; also his best buddies Izzy and Bailey.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the William Snyder Funeral Home, 521 Main Street, Irwin, 724-863-1200. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday June 24 in St. Edward Church, Herminie. Interment will follow in Immaculate Conception Cemetery.
