Dorothy Jean "DJ" Ventres, age 92 and a long-time resident of Clairton, passed away on Friday, September 30, 2016 in Southwestern Nursing Center in West Mifflin.  Born July 30, 1924 in Beaver, she was the first daughter of David and Georgeanne (Frashure) Arnett. 

DJ was well-traveled and lived in many places.  A vibrant, generous, and kind woman, she loved socializing and organizing.  DJ retired from Shoprite Pharmacy in New Jersey in 1992 and relocated to Clairton.  There, she became a member and served on the board of the AARP #1612.  DJ also served as president of the Yankee Doodles.  She also delivered meals and served as a board member for Clairton Meals on Wheels.  DJ was also a member of the Red Hats Ruby Reds, Eastern Star - Victory #96, and the Wilson Civic Association.  She also was an avid bridge and Bunco player and very much enjoyed these clubs.  DJ was preceded in death by her sister Carol Arnett.  She is survived by her son Douglas (Ellen (Logan)) Davis, her beloved grandchildren Ashley (Matt) Watkins and Kyle Davis, her great-granddaughters Harper and Logan Watkins, her sister Shirley Beck, nephews Bill (Sandy) and James Kuhns, and also many great-nieces and great-nephews.  Friends will be received in the A.J. Bekavac Funeral Home, 555 5th. St., Clairton, PA 15025 (412-233-5700) on Thursday, October 6, 2016 from 3 to 7 PM.  A private Funeral Service will be held at Jefferson Memorial Park.  In lieu of flowers, DJ's family asks that a memorial contribution in her name be made to a charity of the donor's choice.  www.bekavacfuneralhome.com
