Obituaries | The Tube City Almanac | October 12, 2022

David “Skip” Eric Williams, 72, peacefully departed this life to be with Jesus at home, surrounded by his family, on October 9, 2022.  He was born in McKeesport on December 23, 1949, and grew up in Clairton, PA.  He is the son of Bertha D. Simmons Williams (Homestead, PA) and the beloved late David L. Williams.  Skip enjoyed life by spending time with his family and friends, attending the Gospel of Jesus Church which he was a member of with his wife, Diane, cheering on the Steelers, gardening, watching movies, working in his home, and engaging in lively discussions about politics with his mom.  He was a devoted husband, a committed father, a wonderful son, an incredible grandfather, a loyal friend, and a great provider for his family.
Skip graduated in 1967 from Clairton High School, where he played football and met lifelong friends.  He had an unmatched work ethic reflected in the 48 years he worked at US Steel Clairton works.  He later joined the U.S. Marine Corps., where he was an Investigator, received the National Defense Service Medal and Rifle Marksman Badge.  He took great pride in his service, and that training was seen in his determination, strength, grit, and never give up attitude.  Skip was a fighter with faith who endured the race.

He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Diane M. Williams, his son, David E. Williams Jr., his daughter, Chere Williams, and his granddaughter, Anya Yirenkyi.  He is also survived by his sister, Kim R.Williams (Buffalo, NY), Louis (Kathy) Urbanski (Elizabeth, PA) and William (Dolores) Urbansky, (Sun City, AZ.), and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who love him dearly.  He was preceded in death by his brother, Darrell D. Williams Sr. (McKeesport, PA) and Deborah Robinson (Roswell, GA), and in-laws William E. (Eva) Urbansky (Glassport, PA).
Skip will be missed tremendously for his kindness, laughter, patience, and love that he never failed to share generously with those around him.
Family and friends will be received at Willig Funeral Home & Crematory on Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m.  The visitation will continue on Friday at the Gospel of Jesus Church in Duquesne from 10 a.m. until the funeral service at noon.  The burial will follow at McKeesport and Versailles Cemetery.  Condolences and memories may be shared at www.willigfuneralcremationservices.com.  Charles Danforth, Supervisor
