Samuel J. DeMarco, 90, of Glassport, died Friday September, 23, 2016. He was the beloved husband of the late Theresa (Ingros) DeMarco for over 60 years, and the son of the late Marco and Giovaninna DiMarco. He is survived by sons Samuel (Elaine) DeMarco Jr. of Pleasant Hills and Gary (Leslie) DeMarco of Glassport; grandchildren Jason (Holly), Shannon (Ryan), Emily (David), and Elise; and great-grandchildren Ethan, Isabella and Hawthorne. Samuel was preceded in death by brothers Joseph, Dominick, Orlando and sister Rose.

He was a WWII U.S. Army veteran, a meat manager at Thorofare Markets for 27 years, President of the Citizen's Hose Co. #1 for 6 years and was a member for 72 years, served 8 years Glassport Council, 4 of those as president. He later served 8 years as mayor of Glassport, President of Twin Rivers Council of Government, member of the Sons of Italy, American Legion Post 443, Glassport Senior Citizens, and Queen of the Rosary Church. While mayor of Glassport Samuel had many accomplishments including working with state officials to repair the Glassport-Clairton Bridge. He also really enjoyed cooking, especially treating his family to pizzelles and Italian lovecake. Friends received Wojciechowski Funeral Home Glassport Mon. and Tue. 2-4 and 6-8. A funeral mass will be held Queen of the Rosary Parish, Glassport Wed. 10am. Interment following Jefferson Memorial Park.
