Geraldine Marraccini Wright peacefully passed on September 18, 2016, at the age of 91. A pioneer for women in her time, she ran track and graduated in 1943 with a BS in Mathematics from the University of Pittsburgh, where she was also a member of Theta Phi Alpha sorority. In 1948, she earned her Master of Letters at Pitt. Afterward, she settled in Elizabeth Twp. and concentrated on raising her young, growing family.

She was a voracious reader, wily card player, and enjoyed the challenge of NY Times crosswords. She traveled extensively to historical sites around the world, including her ancestral home of Montecatini Terme, Italy, fostering her interest in ancient societies. She also enjoyed bird watching (the cardinal was her favorite bird), gardening, her faith, and single handedly defeating large groups of people in trivia games. She is much loved and gave so much love. Born September 4, 1925, she was a daughter of the late Marshall and Lucy (LaFrankie) Marraccini. She spent most of her life in Elizabeth along with her three brothers, Raymond of Elizabeth, Dante (Miriam) of Forward Twp., and the late Eugene Marraccini. She is survived by four children, Vickie (Brian) Weiler of Atlanta, Ga., Doug (Jani) Wright of Dilliner, Robert (Sharon) Wright of Pittsburgh, and Patrick (Stacy) Wright of Camp Hill; 11 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; also, nieces and nephews. Friends will be received in the Paul E. Bekavac Funeral Home, 221 North Second Avenue, Elizabeth, on Wednesday, September 21, 2016, from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. A Blessing Service will take place on Thursday, September 22, 2016, at 12 Noon in the funeral home chapel with Deacon Dale DiSanto. Burial will follow in Jefferson Memorial Park.
