Joy Clemont Johnson, 88, of Dravosburg, died Thursday, Sept. 15, 2016. She was born Nov. 29, 1927, in McKeesport, the daughter of the late Harry and Etta Hoagland Johnson. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in McKeesport, and she retired as the executive director of the former YWCA on Ninth Street in McKeesport for many, many years where she and her mother founded the YWCA Garden Club which is now known as the Joyful Bloomers. She was also a member of the McKeesport Kiwanis Club where she was the very first woman inducted and then was elected the first woman president, a member of the Confederation of McKeesport Women’s Club, the Home Gardeners Guild, a member of Elizabeth Chapter No. 418 of the Eastern Star and was a volunteer for the McKeesport Regional History and Heritage Center. She is survived by her caregiver, Margaret Ann Cant, of Versailles Borough, cousins, and many, many dear friends. Friends will be received from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 18, at STRIFFLERS OF WHITE OAK CREMATION AND MORTUARY SERVICES, 1100 Lincoln Way, White Oak, PA 15131 (Sue Striffler Galaski, supervisor, 412-678-6177). Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday in the funeral home chapel and officiated by the Rev. Debbie Kociban. Burial will follow in McKeesport and Versailles Cemetery.
