Marianne Z. (McMahon) MacBeth, age 80, of Elizabeth Twp., passed away on Tuesday, November 16, 2021, at Grandview Estates surrounded by her family. She retired as an English professor at California University of Pennsylvania and was a former professor at Duquesne University, the University of Pittsburgh Greensburg and Community College of Allegheny County South Campus. She was a member of St. Joachim and Anne Parish, St. Michael Church in Elizabeth Twp., a director at the McKeesport Regional History & Heritage Center, and a volunteer at UPMC McKeesport and Intersection in McKeesport. Born May 18, 1941 in McKeesport, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Helen (O'Brien) McMahon and wife of the late Louis A. MacBeth. She is survived by her daughters, Peggy (Greg) Platte of Elizabeth, Tara (Jeff) Gluscic of Greenock and Erin (John) Barch of Versailles; grandchildren, Katie (Phil) Swartzlander, Beth (Andrew) Hoover, Rob (Xiara Long) Platte, Ellie (Jarrett Booz) Platte, Sean (Patty) McDermott, Samantha McDermott, Melanie (Charles) Murdock and Lisa Gluscic; great-grandchildren, Allison and Lainey Swartzlander, Grace, Anna and Jack Hoover, and Bailey McDermott; sister, Patsy McElhinny of Johnstown; also, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and second husband, she was preceded in death by first husband, Carl "Herky" Zetler, and sister, Gerrie Murphy.

Friends will be received in the Paul E. Bekavac Funeral Home, 221 North Second Avenue, Elizabeth on Friday, November 19, 2021, from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, November 20 at 9:30 AM in St. Joachim and Anne Parish, St. Michael Church with the Rev. Thomas A. Wagner officiating. Burial will follow in Round Hill Cemetery, Elizabeth Twp. Memorial contributions may be made to the McKeesport Regional History & Heritage Center, 1832 Arboretum Drive, McKeesport, PA 15132.
