Alvian K. Rhoades, 83, of Smithton, formerly of Ruffs Dale, passed away Sunday, September 12, 2021. He was born July 6, 1938 in Smithton and was the son of the late John and Loma (Robertson) Rhoades . He was the husband of the late  Carol A. (Casteel) Rhoades, who passed away February 16, 2016. Alvian worked many jobs throughout his life, including working as a coal miner, heavy equipment operator, saw mill operator and for the Ford Motor Company.  He enjoyed guns and hunting.

He is survived by his daughter, Tammy (Kevin) Filer of Smithton, son, Doug (Brenda) Rhoades of Scottdale, grandchildren, Bri Filer and Tasha (Derek) Long, great-grandchildren, Talia and Devin, sisters, Vivian (John) Rodano and Debbie (the late Tom) Karl, both of Ohio, sister-in-law, Kathleen Rhoades and many nieces and nephews.  In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by twin daughters, Donna Rhoades and Diane Forsythe, sister, Faye Brooks and brothers, Glenn and Obie Rhoades. There is no visitation.  A private family inurnment will be held at Barren Run Cemetery in Smithton.
