Edward R. Suckfiel, age 75, of White Oak, died June 4, 2021, at UPMC McKeesport Hospital. Born January 29, 1946, in McKeesport, he was the son of the late James and Dorothy (Guntram) Suckfiel.

Ed retired from LTV Steel as a millwright. He was a proud grandfather, often babysitting and always cheering them on at soccer and baseball games. He will be remembered for being a kind-hearted and generous man that took care of his family.  Ed graduated from McKeesport High School in 1963, was the Treasurer of his vocational high school class, and the winner of the American Legion School Award when he showed high qualities of honor, courage, scholarship, leadership & service. Ed served in the Vietnam war as squad leader of Company B, 1st Battalion, 20th Infantry, 23d Infantry Division. Ed was awarded the Army's Commendation Medal for unhesitatingly moving to the aid of his injured comrades while under attack and "contributed greatly to saving the lives of his comrades." according to Colonel Alphus R. Clark. He was a highly decorated proud patriot who exemplified these honors in his daily life.
Ed is survived by his stepdaughter Jessica (Matthew) Milko; grandchildren Olivia and Aiden; sisters Dolly (David) Kutzfar and Susan (the late Martin) Zebrovious and brother Ron Suckfiel. He was also preceded in death by brothers James Suckfiel, Jr. and William Suckfiel.
Family and friends will be received at Jaycox-Jaworski Funeral Home & Crematory on Wednesday, June 9, 2021, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. The funeral service will be on Thursday, June 10, 2021, at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel.
Burial will follow at Jefferson Memorial Park.
