Eleanor Rose Zang, age 80 of Monroeville and formerly of Elizabeth Twp., passed away on Wednesday, April 14, 2021 in Forbes Hospital.  Born August 10, 1940 in McKeesport, she was a daughter of the late George and Mary (Kovacs) Pfefferkorn.  A 1962 graduate of Duquesne University with a bachelor's degree in biology and chemistry, Eleanor retired as a lab technician for the UPMC Hospital System.  She was a member of St. Joachim and Anne Parish, Elizabeth Twp, and was an accomplished knitter, even knitting voluntarily for the homeless.  In her spare time, she also loved to read, golf, watch NASCAR and the Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers, and was a great animal lover.  Besides her parents, Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband Raymond John Zang, who passed away August 13, 1982, and her siblings Irene Maley and Andrew Pfefferkorn.  She is survived by her children Mary (Rocco) Vadala of Brookfield, OH, Amie (Kevin) Finney of Mt. Vernon, Raymond G. (Kasey) Zang of White Oak, and Damien Zang of Elizabeth Twp.; her grandchildren Kaden, Austin, Kenadie, and Avarie Finney and Zavier and Ragan Zang; and also nieces and nephews. 

Friends will be received in the Daniel F. Bekavac Funeral Home and Crematory, 4504 Walnut St., Versailles Borough, McKeesport, PA 15132 (412-678-3454) on Sunday, April 18, 2021 from 2 PM to 4 PM and 6 PM to 8 PM.  In order to comply with Covid-19 restrictions, guests are required to wear masks and follow CDC social distancing guidelines. You may be asked to limit your visiting time so that all guests will have an opportunity to pay their respects. The family would like to express their understanding to those who are unable to attend due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  A Mass of Chrisitan Burial will take place Monday, April 20, 2021 at 10 AM in St. Joachim and Anne Parish, St. Michael's Church, with Fr. Thomas Wagner officiating.  Procession and burial will follow to St. Joseph Cemetery, North Versailles.  www.bekavacfuneralhome.com
