Daniel Ura, age 71, of McKeesport, died December 24, 2020, at UPMC McKeesport. Born March 30, 1949, in McKeesport, he was the son of the late George and Helen (Tokar) Ura the husband of the late Cheryl C. (Gault) Ura.

Daniel retired from US Steel, National Tube Works, where he was an armature winder. He was a member of St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church, where all of his children attended school. Daniel was the former Commissioner of the McKeesport Baseball Association and coached McKeesport baseball from Tee ball to Little League. He was also a McKeesport Girls Softball League coach for many years, as well as a football coach with the White Athletic Association. He truly loved serving the community of McKeesport and providing leadership and guidance to the children of McKeesport.

Daniel and Cheryl first met at the McKeesport Hospital emergency room, where Daniel went for treatment after a work accident, upon arriving to be cared for, he met a beautiful young lady, which happened to be his x-ray escort and 8 days later became his wife. Daniel and Cheryl spent the last 50 years caring for each other and the family they created.

Daniel is survived by his children, Kevin “Butch” (Candy) Ura of McKeesport, Danielle “Yacky” (Scipio) Ratleff of McKeesport, Cheryl “Pookie” Ura of McKeesport, Anthony “Tony” (Sheila) Ura of McKeesport and George (Michele) Ura of McKeesport; grandchildren, Billy, Jessica, Annsurzadee, Antoine, Antinia, Frank, Jenna, Nicole, Travis, Summer, and George, Jr.; great-grandchildren, Mariah, Ryleigh, Shaniya, Laniya, Anniya, Ganiya, Antiniya, Darrelle, A’Ziahla, Antoine, III, Antonio, Azaiah, A'Moni, A'Layah, Catherine, Malaki, and Arial; also many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, Daniel was also preceded in death by his sister, Helen Robertson. Family and friends will be received at Jaycox-Jaworski Funeral Home & Crematory on Monday, January 4, 2021, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m., with a memorial service at 6 p.m., in the funeral home chapel. Divine Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held at St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church, on Tuesday, 10:30 a.m., with Fr. Donald Voss officiating.
