Edward L. "Ed" Popp, 78, of Duquesne, passed away peacefully, Saturday, November 28, 2020 surrounded by his family. He was born on February 12, 1942 in Lincoln Place and grew up in Duquesne. He was the son of the late John A. "Jonica" Popp, Jr, and the late Emily F. (Tytke) Popp. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Duquesne, Allegheny County FOP Lodge 91, F & AM Aliquippa Lodge 0375, the PIN club, and Dravosburg American Legion. Ed retired from the City of Duquesne Police Department where he served as a Policeman and Detective. Additionally, he worked for the Kennywood Park Police Department and was a retired military veteran where he served a combined 25 years in the U.S. Navy active duty and the Pennsylvania Air National Guard,171st Air Refueling Wing.

He was also a certificated Commercial Multi-engine Airplane and Helicopter Pilot. He enjoyed reading, cooking, socializing and spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Patricia L. (Simon) Popp, sons, Edward J. Popp of Duquesne and Jon E. (Jessica) Popp of Jefferson Hills, daughter, Christine L. Madden of Washington, D.C., brother, Fred (Audrey) Popp of Salem, OH, grandchildren, Matthew and Eric Popp, Mikena Manspeaker, and nieces. He was preceded in death by his brothers, John and Charles Popp. There is no visitation. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
