Michael Babyak, age 93 of White Oak, formerly of McKeesport, passed away on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at UPMC McKeesport. Born June 3, 1923 in McKeesport, he was the son of the late Jon and Mary Babyak, and beloved husband of Margaret (Haynick) Babyak for almost 70 years. Michael was part of the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) as a young teen, and later joined the US Army where he honorably served our country during WWII. Following his military service, he worked as a general foreman for US Steel National Tube Works, retiring after many years of dedicated service. He was a member of the White Oak American Legion Post 701, AARP Chapter 2911 in Versailles and the Knights of Columbus. He was a very active member of St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church in McKeesport and a former Holy Name Society member. Some of Michael's favorite pastimes were his trips to the mountains, taking long road trips where he always enjoyed driving, and playing all types of card games with friends and family. Above all, Michael will be remembered as being a family man who devoted his life to his loving family. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Michael A. (Jenny) Babyak of Somerset and Joyce A. (Alan) Goebel of McKeesport; grandchildren, Michele Babyak (Denny Hustead) and Lynette (John) Schuetz; great-grandchildren, Tyler and Brandon Schuetz; brother, Edward (Helen) Babyak; and many loving nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Jon Babyak, Mary Dolores Curley and Helen Kugler. Per Michael's wishes, services will be private and are entrusted to Jaycox-Jaworski Funeral Home & Crematory.
