Chief Richard S. “Lefty” Adams age 79, of Duquesne, on May 22, 2020 at UPMC McKeesport. Born on August 13, 1940, in McKeesport, he was the son of the late Stephen & Josephine (Melkon) Adams.  He was a Duquesne Police officer for 51 years serving as a Patrolman, Detective, Lieutenant, Assistant Chief, founding member of the City’s K-9 Unit and retiring as the Chief of Police in 2016.  He was a lifetime member of F.O.P. Lodge #91, an avid softball player, started the Holy Name softball team in the mid 1980’s, loved to dance and watch his grandchildren participate in sports and his house and pool were always open to friends and neighbors. He was the husband of the late Judiann “Judy” (Harris) Adams.  He is survived by children Stephen (Rhonda) Adams of Scott Twp., Richard Scott (Vicky) Adams of Duquesne, Bethany Adams of West Mifflin, and Candice (Rick) Manspeaker of West Mifflin; grandchildren Amelia Adams, Abigail Adams, Ashton Adams, Aaron Adams, Autumn Adams, Avi Adams, Trey & Trent Manspeaker; sister Gloria Adams-Garbart (late Glenn) of South Fayette. 

He was the fiance of Lynn Zivkovich of West Mifflin. He was the brother-in-law of Deanne (late Duane) Seese of Murrysville and Randy (Martha) Harris of Landcaster, also 5 nieces. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 26 from 12-8 p.m. at the MALOY-SCHLEIFER FUNERAL HOME, 915 Kennedy Ave., Duquesne, 412-466-3300, where a blessing service will take place on Wednesday, May 27 at 9:30 a.m. followed by a mass of Christian Burial at Holy Name Church at 10:00 a.m. with the Rev. Thomas Lewandowski officiating. Burial will be in Holy Name Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, 28 W. 44th St., NY, NY 10036. Due to the current CDC restrictions, only 25 people are permitted in the funeral home at one time.  All visitors must wear a mask. Upon arriving, you may be asked to wait until others leave the building. The funeral mass will be live-streamed on the funeral home website www.maloy-schleiferfuneralhome.com.
