Robert J. Pupich Jr., age 63 of White Oak, died on Thursday, May 14, 2020.  He was born in McKeesport, on October 24, 1956, and is the son of the late Robert J., Sr. and Dolores Brocard Pupich.

Rob was a teacher and also a lifelong coach, helping countless children throughout his long career.  While teaching at McKeesport Area School District, Rob also served as the Boys Junior Varsity basketball coach for 25 years and still holds the record for being the “winningest” JV basketball coach at McKeesport. He went on to coach the Girls Varsity Basketball team at Thomas Jefferson High School, before returning to McKeesport to assist with their girls’ basketball program. Rob is survived by his wife of 38 years, Jean Mangus Pupich; daughter, Ashley (Dickie) Markovitz of Irwin; son, Brett (Becky) Pupich of Johnstown; sister, Roberta (Ted) Mains of Penn Twp; grandchildren, Zane and Zeke Markovitz; and many nieces and nephews.

A family gathering was held on Sunday, May 17, 2020 at Strifflers of White Oak Cremation and Mortuary Services, 1100 Lincoln Way, White Oak, PA  15131 (Sue Striffler Galaski, supervisor, 412-678-6177).   There was a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, May 18, 2020 at St. Angela Merici Church of Mary, Mother of God Parish in White Oak.  Burial followed.  To share a memory or condolence, visit strifflerfuneralhomes.com
