Charles Arvine "Chic"  Muetzel, Jr., 87, of White Oak, passed away at home on Tuesday, April 21, 2020. He was born February 3, 1933 in Dormont and was the son of the late Charles Arvine Muetzel, Sr, and the late Velma Viola (Weis) Muetzel. Charles was President of the former Mon Valley Petroleum and was a US Army Veteran. He was a member of the Pittsburgh Petroleum Association, the Pennsylvania Petroleum Association and was a 1955 graduate of Washington and Jefferson College. A man who grew up in Dormont and graduated from W&J, became the best oil marketer east of the Mississippi. A man who started a family and raised 3 amazing children. A grandfather to 6 and great-grandfather to 9 more.

All of whom still believe he is Santa Claus.  Most importantly an amazing husband. In an era where women stayed at home, this man empowered his wife to go to school, work a full time job, and most importantly just go for it. His life is proof that good guys do finish first. So raise a glass to Chic. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Martha Jane (McKinney) Muetzel, sons, Michael Rex (Alice Ann) Muetzel of Atlanta, GA and Douglas Wayne (Linda Ann) Muetzel of Mars, daughter, Susan Jane Elsass of White Oak, grandchildren, Melissa (Patrick) Harper, Abbey (Jared) Bain, Amanda (Brad) Beggs, Matthew (Mallory) Muetzel, Joshua (Anastasia) Elsass and Jeremiah Elsass, great-grandchildren, Zac and Quinn Harper, Myla, Seth, Judah, and Shilot Beggs, Matteo and Marco Muetzel and Lucy Bain, and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Jan Elsass. There is no visitation. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are by Gilbert Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1638 Lincoln Way, White Oak. (412) 672-6322 Troy J. Gilbert, Director. Condolences may be made at Gilbertfuneralhomeandcrematory.com
