Charles Emery Matta, age 93, of North Huntingdon, died April 10, 2020, at home. Born October 11, 1926, in McKeesport, he was the son of the late Emery and Anna (Hlatki) Matta and the husband of Dorothy (Miller) Matta for over 73 years.

Charles retired from General Motors Co., Fisher Body Division of West Mifflin. Prior to that, he worked at Firth Sterling Steel Company of McKeesport. He was a US Navy veteran serving during WWII on the USS Santa Fe in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater. Charles was a member of the St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church of McKeesport, where he and his wife enjoyed making bread and pyrohy for church sales. He loved to read and care for his home.
In addition to his wife, Charles is survived by nieces Barbara Paone of Colonia, NJ ; Donna (Mitchell) McGuire of Barboursville, WV ; and Karen M. Kost of White Oak; nephews John P. Miller of Fort Lauderdale, FL, and James R. (Kathleen) Miller of White Oak; and caretaker and dear friend, Lauryl (Jason) Drescher of West Newton.
In addition to his parents, Charles was also preceded in death by his sisters, Marian Good and Dorothy Murray.
Private family arrangements were entrusted to Jaycox-Jaworski Funeral Home & Crematory. Burial took place in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
