William Richard Brown , 92, of Elizabeth Township, passed away at home on Friday, August 16, 2019. He was born February 7, 1927 in Elizabeth and was the son of the late Homer R. and Marjorie  (Thompson) Brown.  He was the  husband of the late Vera  (Meyers)  Brown who passed away October 17, 2012. They were married for 63 years. He was a member of the Elizabeth United Methodist Church and was a WWII US Navy Veteran. William was a retired Teacher and Counselor at North Irwin and Bethel Park School Districts.

He is survived by his sons,  Richard W. (Laurie) Brown of Brookeville, MD, James R. (Mary Kaye) Brown of Princeton, NJ,  daughters, Cheryl I. (Douglas) Kilburn of White Oak, and Sandra E. (James) Poremba of Elizabeth Township, grandchildren, Amy, Jennifer, Doug Jr., Mike, Greg, Rick, Caitlin, Ryan and Alexandra,  great-grandchildren, Kelsey, Karlee, Emmalynn, Easton, Braeden, Logan, Douglas III, and Camden, sister-in-law, Marcia Brown and brother-in-law, Walter Meyers of Elizabeth, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Dr.  C. Robert Brown. Friends are welcome Sunday, August 18, 2019 from 2-4 and 6-8:00 pm at the Gilbert Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 6028 Smithfield Street, Boston, Elizabeth Township. (412) 751-5000 Drew J. Gilbert, Director. Service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Monday August 19, 2019  at 10:00 am. The  Rev. Karl J. Petterson will be officiating.  Burial will follow at the Round Hill Cemetery, Elizabeth Township.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Homes for Heros at 1-763-777-5800.
