Mary "Mamie" B. Latta, 91, of Elizabeth Township, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, January 17, 2019. She was born April 9, 1927 in McKeesport and was the daughter of the late Paul and Katherine (Roscoe) Benyak. She was the wife of the late Lawrence Latta who passed away in 1987. Mamie was a member of St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church in McKeesport and the Marian Society there. 

She was a Registered Nurse and had worked for McKeesport Hospital and the Pittsburgh Board of Education. She was also a member of the McKeesport Hospital School of Nursing Alumni Association. She had a lifelong love for travel, especially family vacations, and a lifelong love for outdoor adventures; in her later years enjoying her weekends with family at Indian Lake. She is survived by her son, Lawrence  "Larry" W. Latta, Sr., of Elizabeth Township, sister, Anna Bellas of White Oak, grandchildren, Elizabeth A. (Ethan, Sr.) Riffe of Cranberry Township and Lawrence "Larry" W. (Ashley) Latta, Jr., of Millvale, great-grandchildren, Ethan Riffe Jr., and Ellis Riffe, sister-in-law, Lida Benyak of Liberty Borough, and many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. She was preceded in death by her brothers, John (Olive), Joseph, and Stephen Benyak. Friends are welcome Saturday, January 19, 2019 from 6-8:00 pm and Sunday, January 20, 2019 from 2-4 and 6-8:00 pm at the Gilbert Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 6028 Smithfield Street, Boston, Elizabeth Township. Divine Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church on Monday, January 21, 2019 at 10:00 am. The Rev. Donald Voss will be officiating.
