Margaret J. Perhats, age 80, of Port Vue, died November 7, 2018, at home. Born September 30, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Lewis Joseph Smith and Kathryn (Ward) Smith Heidler and the wife of Richard A. Perhats, Sr., for 54 years.

Margaret dedicated her life to caring for her family and yet found time to go back to school in her later years. She retired from ARC of Greater Pittsburgh, where she was a social worker with 10 years of service. She is a member of St. Mark Parish, where she was a Lady of Charity and a Christian Mother. She was also active with the  People Concerned for the Unborn Child, New Castle Chapter. Margaret also enjoyed reading, loved her loyal pet dog, Corkey and her greatest joy was spending time with her family. In addition to her husband, Margaret is survived by her children, Brenda Seigler of North Versailles and Tracy (James) McElrone of Harrison City; many grandchildren; many great grandchildren; brother, Lou (Terry) Smith of Monroeville; also many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by step-father, Raymond Heidler; son, Richard A., Jr.; sister, Karen Gribschaw. Family and friends will be received at Willig Funeral Home & Crematory on Sunday, November 11, 2018, from 12 to 2 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, 10 a.m., at St. Mark Parish, Liberty Borough Site. Fr. Thomas Wagner will be the celebrant. Committal will follow in New St. Joseph's Cemetery. Condolences and memories may be shared at www.willigfuneralcremationservices.com
