Edward Russel Aikins, age 58, of Avonmore, died Monday, October 8, 2018.  He was born in Latrobe on October 20, 1959 and is the son of the late James E. and May Mertz Aikins.  He was employed through and also a member of the Local Union 66 Operating Engineers as a heavy equipment operating engineer.  His favorite past time was working on and riding his many motorcycles. He is survived by his daughter, Ashley (Ben Quirk) Aikins of McKeesport; brothers, Jim (Karen) Aikins of Niles, Ohio, Terry (Sheri) Aikins of Roseville, Michigan, Rick (Cat) Aikins of Salina, PA; sisters, Jean (Art) Anthony of Delmont, PA, Sherrie Aikins-Silvis (Jim Silvis) of Emmett, Michigan, Sue Carmel-Aikins of Lancaster, PA; mother of his daughter, Barb Young of Avonmore; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews; and girlfriend, Wendy Caster.
