James H. Weitzel, age 86, formerly of West Mifflin, passed away on Thursday, June 28, 2018. He retired as food service director for Central Medical Hospital in Pittsburgh. An Army veteran serving during the Korean War, he was a former member of Holy Angels in Hays and attended St. Thomas a Becket in Jefferson Hills. He was a former chef at the Ankara Dinner Club in Pleasant Hills, and a former member of the Elks No. 11 in Lincoln Place and American Legion Post 0945. 

Born April 18, 1932 in Greenfield, he was a son of the late Carl and Catherine (O'Sullivan) Weitzel and husband of the late Bertha Weitzel. He is survived by children, Carrie (Jack) Martincic of Forward Twp., Carla (John) Saracco of Elizabeth, and Glenn (Nancy) Goldbaugh of North Carolina; grandchildren, Joshua, Joseph, Jacquelyn, Courtney, Stacie, Theresa, James Blaine Jr., Christopher, Amy, Glenn Jr., Justin, and Jacob; great-grandchildren, J.T., Logan, Addie, Trip, Ben, and Rose; son-in-law, James Blaine Williams of Louisville, KY; also, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by daughter, Carol Williams, and siblings, Carl, Woodrow, Glenn, William, Jack, Richard, and Howard Weitzel, Bertha Zimmerman, Hilda Waters, Leah Sommers, and Esther Wright. Friends will be received in the Paul E. Bekavac Funeral Home, 221 North Second Avenue, Elizabeth on Monday, July 2, 2018 from 2-4 PM and 5-8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at 10 AM at St. Thomas A' Becket Roman Catholic Church in Jefferson Hills with the Rev.
