Lavinia (Lee) C. Hamburger Schumann, age 103, of McKeesport entered the gates of Heaven on Tuesday, May 15, 2018.  She was born in Duquesne, PA on July 24, 1914 to Samuel and Rose Crilley Hamburger. 

Survivors are 5 children, Leah (the late Bob) Scheaffer, Janet (Bill) Main, Alice Jean (Paul) Hurley, Chuck Schumann, Vicki (Frank) Simonetta; 15 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren, 16 great-great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her former husband of 24 years, Richard Schumann; grandchildren, Robby Williams and Tuan Schumann; brothers, Joseph Gilbert, Frank and Chuck Hamburger; sister, Gertrude McKenzie and husband, Gerald (who reared her).

  

She was a member of Versailles Boro. Chapter 2911 AARP, YWCA, Golden Agers, Salvation Army, and Friendship Club.  She was previously employed by The Famous, Genuine Motor Parts and Foodland.  For 16 years, she was a Foster Grandparent at St. Peter’s in Homestead.

Her family feels blessed by the special care given her by Community Life in McKeesport and Barb Bavolar who also dearly helped with her care. 

Family and friends will be received on Sunday, May 20, 2018 from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the Hunter-Edmundson-Striffler funeral home of McKeesport, 600 Market St., McKeesport, PA  15132 (412-678-6191).  Services will be in the funeral home chapel on Monday, May 21, 2018 12:00 Noon with Pastor William B. Meekins officiating.  Burial will follow in Jefferson Memorial Park.  Condolences may be made to www.strifflerfuneralhomes.com.
