Mary Kay Ashton, age 87, of McKeesport, passed away on December 30, 2017. She was born in Warren, PA on April 13, 1930, the daughter of John and Mary Buda Strefeler and the wife of the late Edward J. Ashton. She is survived by her daughter, Jane (John) Aiken of Monroeville: granchildren, Edward Aiken of Durham, NC, Dr. Allison (Mang Chen) Aiken of Berkley, CA, and Janelle (Ian) Eberhardt of Brighton Heights; great grandchild Rohan Aiken Chen; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was especially close with her niece, Trish. She is preceded in death by brothers, Edmund & Jim Strefeler.

Mary Kay belonged to many organizations including AARP #2294, AOH of Pitcairn, Dravosburg American Legion Auxiliary, White Oak American Legion, and was a Renzie Senior. She retired after 30 plus years from Verizon, formerly Bell Telephone, where she was a member of the Bell Telephone Pioneers. 

Friends and family will be received on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 from 2-4 pm & 6-8 pm at Striffler’s of White Oak Cremation and Mortuary Services, Inc., 1100 Lincoln Way, White Oak, PA 15131 (Sue Striffler Galaski, Supervisor 412-678-6177). Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at 10:00 am  at North American Martyrs Parish, 2526 Haymaker Road, Monroeville Pa, 15146, with Father Joseph Luisi officating. Burial will follow. Remembrances may be made in Mary Kay’s name to the White Oak American Legion Post #701, 2813 Capitol St., White Oak, PA 15131.
