Florence E. Alderson, age 88, of Jefferson Hills, passed away on Thursday, October 19, 2017 at Mt. Vernon of  South Park. She retired as a cashier for the former A & P Company in Clairton. She was a member of Beulah Baptist Church in Jefferson Hills, where she taught Sunday School for 40 years. She was an avid crafter, baker, sewer, and gardener.

Born September 18, 1929 in Jefferson Twp., she was a daughter of the late Jennings and Mary Ellen (Parish) Wagner and wife of the late Russell Pancoast and Carl Alderson. She is survived by daughters, Dorene (Ray) Carney of Wentzville, MO, and  Diana (Bill) Dunn of Slippery Rock; son, Keith (Jeannette) Pancoast of Pleasant Hills; stepdaughter, Karen (Rick) Hamilton of Granite Bay, CA; stepson, Tommy Alderson of Hephzibah, GA; seven grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; seven stepgreat-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Lou Bowden of Hershey,  Shirley (John) Stead of Willow Grove, and Phyllis (Gary) Patterson of Irwin; brother, Barry (Janet) Wagner of White Oak; also, nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents and spouses, she was preceded in death by sisters, Grace Larcinese and Ruth Stockdill, and brothers, Franklin, William and Edward Wagner. Friends will be received in the Paul E. Bekavac Funeral Home, 221 North Second Avenue,  Elizabeth on Sunday, October 22, 2017 from Noon-4 and 6-8 PM. A funeral service will take place on Monday, October 23, 2017 at 10 AM in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Dr. William K. Little officiating. Burial will follow in Jefferson Memorial Park, Pleasant Hills. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice. Offer condolences at www.bekavacfuneralhome.
