Bernard L. Proch, 80, of Covina, CA, formerly from Wilkinsburg PA, passed away Wednesday, October 4, 2017 in Verona. He was born August 15, 1937 in Wilkinsburg, a son of the late Barney and Stella Marie Chajkowski Proch.

Prior to his retirement, Bernie was a high school teacher for West Covina School District, CA, a veteran of the US Navy serving with the U.S. Navy Security Group. He spent five years in the Diplomatic Corps of the Foreign Service Branch of the State Department where he was assigned to several diplomatic posts around the world. He enjoyed playing the piano and was the recipient of five scholarships and many other awards throughout his career. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Edward Proch. He is survived by his sister, Rosemarie Thompson and her husband, Frank of North Huntingdon; and numerous nieces and nephews. There will be no visitation. A memorial service with military honors will be held on Monday, October 23 at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville PA at 10:30 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Disabled American Veterans or Vitas Hospice. www.shirleyfuneralhome.com.
