Donald S. Hansel, 93, of North Huntingdon, passed away Friday, September 8, 2017 at Excela Health Westmoreland. He was born April 4, 1924 in Vale Summit, MD, a son of the late Robert and Jessie Gerlach Hansel.

 Prior to his retirement, Don was employed as a steelworker for U.S. Steel National Tube and a WWII veteran having served in the US Navy on the U.S.S. Huse De 145. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Irwin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Grace (Goebel) Hansel; and brother, Raymond Hansel. He is survived by his son, Robert (Linda); daughter, Donna Weber and her husband, John; six grandchildren, John Weber Jr., Dawn Capecci, Eric (Michelle) Hansel, Jesse Hansel, Rebecca (David) Kelley, Rachel (Keith) Sankey; five great-grandchildren, Willow, Liam, Elizabeth, Emily and Adam; and his very special partner, Bobbi Rizzo. Friends will be received at the James W. Shirley Funeral Home, 176 Clay Pike, North Huntingdon, PA on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. A funeral service will take place on Tuesday at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
