Ray A. "Granny" Armstrong, age 77, of West Elizabeth, passed away on Thursday, August 31, 2017 at home. He was a tire man for PJ Dick and Trumbull. He was a lifetime member of 61 years of the West Elizabeth Volunteer Fire Company, a former member of West Elizabeth Borough Council, and a member of International Union of Operating Engineers Local 66. 

Born July 9, 1940 in West Elizabeth, he was a son of the late George and Edna (Stearns) Armstrong. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Connie (Pearsol) Armstrong; son, Ray A. (Carey) Armstrong Jr. of West Elizabeth; daughter, Tina Armstrong of Charleroi; grandchildren, Nicole Armstrong, Jason Urso Jr., Alexandra Urso, and Mathew Armstrong; sisters, Audrey Metz of Florida, Ruth Horgos of the state of Washington, and Janet Haigy of the state of Indiana; also, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, George, John and Harold Armstrong. Friends will be received in the Paul E. Bekavac Funeral Home, 221 North Second Avenue, Elizabeth on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. A Funeral Service will take place on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at 10 AM in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Jude Urso officiating. Burial will follow in Round Hill Cemetery, Elizabeth Twp.
