Cheryl D. Hanko, age 59, of White Oak, died July 5, 2017, at Family Hospice in Elizabeth. Born June 27, 1958, she was the daughter of John and Shirley (Flading) Hanko.
Cheryl was a faithful member of St. Angela Merici Church and presented the gifts at Mass. She loved to travel and visited much of the United States and Mexico. She enjoyed airplane rides, word puzzles and especially dancing. A member of MYARC, she bowled on MYARC’s Bowling League. Cheryl had great determination; she was a fine swimmer, successful in her 30 year employment at Mon-Yough Community Services and a 1979 graduate of McKeesport’s Special Education Program. Most of all, her life brought joy to her parents, and her pretty smile will be remembered by all those whose lives she touched.


In addition to her parents, Cheryl is survived by brothers, Paul (Melissa) of York and James (Lois) of Redwood City, CA; nieces, Karlene, Suzanne and Karen; great nephews, Joshua and Benjamin; aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by nephew, Kristopher.
Family and friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 on Friday. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Kevin Dominik at St. Angela Merici Church on Saturday, July 8th at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be at Jefferson Memorial Park.
