Rose Mary Monito, age 89, passed away on Thursday, May 25, 2017.  Born May 25, 1928 in Waterbury, CT, she was a daughter of the late Demetrius and Mary (Roscoe) Monito.

A former 50 year resident of Clairton, she moved to Whitehall Borough in 1985.  Rose Mary attended Clairton High School, graduating in 1946, and also the Business Training College in Pittsburgh (now Point Park University) for one year.  She was employed 35 years by Aetna Life and Casualty as a secretary, retiring in 1987.  Rose Mary was a member of Ascension of Our Lord Byzantine Catholic Church in Clairton, where she served as a volunteer secretary for 35 years.  She was also a 25 year volunteer at Jefferson Regional Medical Center and, for four years, served the South Hills Interfaith Ministries Food Bank.  Besides her parents, Rose Mary was preceded in death by her brothers John Monito and his wife Helen and Gregory Monito and his wife Helen, and their daughter, Margaret Ballou.  She is survived by her brother Thomas (Karen) Monito of Valencia; her nieces Susan Scotts of Parkland, FL, Mary Jo (Dale) Altman of Pittsburgh, Mary Pat (Gregory) Young of Arlington Heights, IL, and Theresa (Richard) Conti of Sugarland, TX; her nephews John Monito of Ashburn, VA, Gregory Monito of Pittsburgh, Thomas (Tammy) Monito of Ebensburg, and Robb (Donna) Scheetz of Lakeland, FL; many great-nieces and great-nephews, and one great-great-niece.  Friends will be received in the A.J. Bekavac Funeral Home, 555 5th. St., Clairton, PA 15025 (412-233-5700) on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 from 10:30 AM until a 12 Noon Panachida with Fr. Ivan Mina in the funeral home.  Procession and burial will follow to Ascension Cemetery, Clairton.  Memorial contributions may be made to Ascension of Our Lord Byzantine Catholic Church, 318 Park Ave., Clairton, PA 15025.  www.bekavacfuneralhome.com
