Rae Kessler, 91, of White Oak died Thursday, May 18, 2017 at Riverside Nursing Center. Born in Glassport, July 21, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Myer and Rose Recht Alpern and wife of the late Robert Kessler. She was a buyer for the former Gimbel’s Department Stores, and worked until age 82 at their Eastland and Pittsburgh locations. She was a member of the Congregation Gemilas Chesed and its Sisterhood and Hadassah. She is survived by 2 sons, Steven Kessler of Pittsburgh and Mark (Stephanie) Kessler of Dallas, TX; 5 grandchildren, Matt Kessler of Pittsburgh, Katie Bertsch of Alpine, WY, Robert Kessler of Frisco, TX, Jenny Kessler of Seattle, WA, and Hannah Kessler of Dallas, TX; a great grandson, Benjamin Kessler of Frisco, TX; 2 sisters, Sylvia Newman of White Oak and Rochelle Glanz of Pittsburgh; also by nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held Monday, May 22, 2017 in the Original Gemilas Chesed Cemetery at 11:00 AM with Rabbi Moshe Russell officiating. Hunter Funeral Home, Inc., 1600 Coursin Street, McKeesport, PA 15132 is in charge of arrangements.
