James R. “Chip” Collins, 78, of West Newton died Monday, March 13, 2017 in Jefferson Hospital. He was an Army veteran having served during the Vietnam War. He retired as a maintenance worker for the Pennsylvania American Water Co. 

He was born on July 14, 1938 in Everson, PA, the son of Michael and Edith (Rhodes) Collins. Chip was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Dawn Collins; sisters, Jeannie and Kathleen Collins, Margaret “Peg” Fiore, and JoAnn Rodino; and brother, William Collins. Surviving is his loving companion, Goldie, and her daughters, Jo Irene Greenwood and Davida Vayansky and their families; special great-granddaughter, Emma Jo, whom he loved dearly; and many beloved nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his favorite little girl, Ashley. Chip was a very fun-loving and caring man who was always laughing and joking. He and Goldie enjoyed going to the West Newton Senior Center where he enjoyed playing bingo and cards. They also enjoyed traveling and going on Sunday drives. Friends will be received on Thursday, March 16, 2017 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM and ending with a prayer in the Paul E. Bekavac Funeral Home, 221 North Second Avenue, Elizabeth. No service is scheduled.
