Obituaries | The Tube City Almanac | August 12, 2025

William (Billy) M. Stevens, age 67, of New Alexandria, died August 7, 2025 at his home. Born October 26, 1958 in McKeesport, he was the son of the late James Stevens and Shirley (Schlessinger) Stevens Burd, and life partner of the living, Pamela Lukacs Mrazik.
Billy was a giving man who exemplified kindness and generosity in every sense. Always ready to lend a helping hand, he would readily give the shirt off his back for his loved ones. Known for his humor-delivered in a gruff but endearing way-Billy's loyalty was unmatched, and guided those around him.
A true truck driver at heart, Billy loved anything with a motor. His drive came from his hero Max Schlessinger (his grandfather) who took him under his wing as a young boy. Billy often joked, "I've got more miles backing up than you do driving forward," a testament to the years he spent behind the wheel. His hands, often stained with engine grease, reflected a life deeply rooted in working on project cars and fixing things around the house. His passion for speed and motorsports was evident in his devotion as a NASCAR fan, dreaming of one day following the NASCAR Cup Series Circuit.
Billy's life was driven by adventure and love-he dreamed of traveling the country in an RV with his beloved partner, Pam, and his loyal dog Zea. He dreamed of seeing the painted desert and sharing countless more memories on the open road.
His presence and love will be missed dearly by his family and friends, but his legacy of loyalty, humor, and devotion will always remain in our hearts-a reminder to live generously, love fiercely, and never lose your sense of adventure.
Billy is survived by his daughter Casey Stevens; son William (Abby) Stevens; step-daughter, Jade (David) Van Etten; sister, Sheree (John) Kapusta; brother, Edward Stevens; granddaughters, Rayne Stevens and Sara Van Etten; grandson, David Jr. Van Etten; nieces and nephews, Justin (Carrie) Betters, John (Alicia) Kapusta, Grant (fiancé Sarah Miller) Reeder, Edward Stevens Jr., Katelyn Stevens, Craig Stevens, and Chelsea Stevens.
In addition to his parents, William was also preceded in death by his son, Cade Stevens,; sister, Becky (Steve) Reeder; nephew, Dylan Reeder; and his maternal grandfather, Max Schlessinger.
William's legacy will be one of adventure and enthusiasm, leaving behind cherished memories for family and friends. He is survived by many who will remember his kind heart, unwavering loyalty, and vibrant zest for life.
Arrangements were entrusted to Willig Funeral Home & Crematory. A celebration of life and inurnment at McKeesport Versailles Cemetery will follow at a later date.
