Willig Funeral Home & Crematory

Obituaries | The Tube City Almanac | August 04, 2025

Evelyn F. Lickley, age 93, of Port Vue, died July 31, 2025, at Monroeville Post Acute. Born August 23, 1931, in McKeesport, she was the daughter of the late Max and Evelyn (Riley) Winters, and wife of the late August Friedhofer and Robert Lickley.

Evelyn dedicated many years of her life to her work at the McKeesport Candy Company, where her diligent hands packed sweet treats that brought joy to many. Her heart, however, was most fully expressed in her home, where she delighted in cooking and baking for her family and friends. The aroma of her kitchen was a constant reminder of her love, and her generous spirit led her to share her culinary creations with those around her.

A devoted member of the Port Vue United Methodist Church, Evelyn found solace and strength in her faith. In recent years, she attended Greater Works Outreach in Monroeville, where she continued to nurture her spiritual growth.

Evelyn found joy in the simple pleasures of life, particularly in playing bingo and listening to music, activities that brought her laughter and connection with others. Above all, Evelyn cherished her family and grandchildren, who were the light of her life. Evelyn's legacy of love, devotion, and sweet memories will forever be etched in the hearts of those she leaves behind.

She is survived by her daughters, Lynn (Robert) Handza and Diane (Stephen) Kreske; grandchildren, Lauren McClinton, Shane (Robyn Parker) Szalankiewicz, and Bryan (Muriel) Kreske; great-grandchildren, Mariah (Noah) DiBuono, Mason, Mia, Haley, Griffin, and Lexi; great-great-grandson, Caleb, and nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husbands, she was also preceded in death by a sister, Virginia Winters, and brother, James Winters.

Family and friends will be received at Willig Funeral Home & Crematory on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at 10 a.m. The burial will follow at McKeesport and Versailles Cemetery.
