James L. Hawthorne, age 69, of Chillicothe, OH, died July 30, 2025. Born August 22, 1955, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of James and the late Kathy Hawthorne and husband of the late Nancy Jo Hawthorne.
James was a lifelong learner, earning an Associate's Degree from Penn State University, a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Pittsburgh, and a Master's Degree from St. Francis University. His professional career in Human Resources Management was marked by his dedication to fostering positive workplace cultures and supporting unions and labor relations.
He embraced life with enthusiasm; whether it was growing up hunting deer at the family cabin in Tionesta, passionately following his beloved Pitt Panthers and Pittsburgh Steelers, or indulging in his love for golf, he cherished these moments, particularly when shared with his sons. The family trips to Disney, fondly referred to as the "Hawthorne Party of 11," and cherished beach vacations hold a special place in the hearts of his loved ones, echoing laughter and warmth that will forever resonate in their memories. James was a proud member of the Chillicothe First Church of God, where he found community, fellowship, and a deep sense of purpose. His faith stood as a beacon of hope and love for his family and friends, guiding them through life's challenges and celebrating its joys.
In addition to his father, he is survived by sons, Matthew (Sarah) Hawthorne, of Chillicothe, OH and Timothy (Alicia) Hawthorne, of Auburn, AL; grandchildren, Aiden, Elizabeth, Ethan, Amelia, and Liam; siblings, Bill (Cindy) Hawthorne, of Wilmington, DE, Barb (Jim) Lloyd, of White Oak, and Terry (John) Schultz, of McKeesport; brother-in-law, Gary (Peggy) Pomycala, of Parma, OH, and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received at Willig Funeral Home & Crematory on Saturday, August 2, 2025, from 9:30 a.m. until the funeral service at 11:30 a.m. The burial will follow at Mt.
